Jack Ginnivan posts shock video on Instagram that the Hawks star doesn’t want fans to see

Hawthorn star Jack Ginnivan posted to Instagram a video in which he appears to be smoking a cigar while attending a college football match in America on Saturday.

The 21-year-old forward appears to have traveled to the US for a break during the AFL off-season and was seen on the field with several other fans after Tennessee’s game against Alabama on Saturday.

Tennessee had defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 24-17 at Neyland Stadium and Ginnivan appeared to support the home team.

The AFL star was seen in the clip wearing an orange T-shirt and was heard saying: “Smoking that ‘Bama pack,” in reference to the Alabama defeat.

The footy star was also seen smoking a cigar during the eight-second clip, which has now been deleted from his Instagram Story.

The footy star also posted several other photos and videos from inside the stadium, appearing to marvel at the raucous 101,915-capacity crowd in the huge arena.

The clip divided some fans online, with some taking to X (formerly Twitter) to call the clip “cringe.”

However, other fans on social media disagreed, with some claiming people should leave the 21-year-old alone.

“He’d much rather be himself than pretend he’s not. I don’t see him doing anything wrong. I’m old fashioned though…” someone wrote on X.

‘I’m not sure what I’m supposed to see? A child enjoying his life?’ said another.

Ginnivan is one of many stars enjoying a holiday after the end of the AFL season, while several other players are jetting abroad to enjoy the off-season.

The forward, who joined Hawthorn from Collingwood last season, had a solid debut season with the Hawks, making 23 appearances and scoring 28 goals.

It comes after he and fellow Hawks star Nick Watson were criticized after failing to show up at a planned children’s football practice following the end of the Hawk’s season.

One parent had told 3AW that her child was left ‘heartbroken’ after the couple failed to attend the football clinic.

Although Ginnivan and Watson do a lot for the community, it is clear that they plan to make it up to the children by running another football clinic for them at a later date.

Hawthorn boss Rob McCartney told Trade Radio: ‘What has happened after this disappointment is that both the boys – and their management who have had to deal with this – have recognized that in order to repair some of the disappointment they , who will inform children that they will be running another clinic on another date.’
