Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson was accompanied to the Octagon by a very special guest at UFC 296 – with Jack Black walking out alongside him for his fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Thompson has long since eloped to “Wonderboy” — the debut single from Black's former rock-comedy band Tenacious D — and the two are also said to have been friends over the years.

The unlikely duo most notably connected in the past when Black Thompson learned the 'Kick of Destiny' during the build-up to his fight against Kevin Holland at UFC 279.

The School of Rock star's performance was likely the highlight of Thompson's night, however, as he lost the fight against Rakhmonov after being submitted via rear choke in the second round.

Thompson was ultimately defeated in the second round after submitting to a rear-naked choke

During the first round of the fight, the action started slowly, as Thompson spent large chunks of time pressed against the fence, dealing limited damage.

He finally managed to land a nice kick to the body and a solid overhand just before the round ended, but the action wasn't enough to prevent boos from the fans.

Thompson came out much more aggressive in the second round before hitting the cage again and eventually being brought back to the mat.

After finally trying to get back to his feet and defend against a d'arce choke, Thompson scrambled his way into the rear naked choke that led to his demise with less than 10 seconds left in the round.

He had tried to hold out until the end of the round, but decided it was better to tap out rather than be forced to take an early nap.
