J.D. Vance launches devastating attack on key Kamala ‘failure’ he says makes her unfit to be president

Vice President Kamala Harris was tasked with addressing the “root causes” of migration that are driving people from Central America to flee to the US.

But after three and a half years as President Joe Biden’s “border czar,” Republicans say Harris has failed to do her job to curb the growing migration crisis at the southern border — and that the policies have made the problem worse.

Senator JD Vance says the “root cause” of the current crisis is Harris not doing her job.

Since Biden took office in 2021, Customs and Border Protection has encountered more than 8 million migrants along the southern border.

Harris was tasked with working with countries where many asylum seekers come from to find a way to ensure that these people no longer feel the need to flee.

Sen. JD Vance says Kamala Harris’ failure as ‘border czar’ is the real ‘root cause’ of the illegal immigration crisis

Her first international trip as vice president was in June 2021, when she went to Guatemala and Mexico, which led to the creation of task forces to combat corruption and human trafficking. It also resulted in investment financing for housing and businesses in the region.

Republicans have been highly critical of this approach, arguing that Harris has done nothing to actually impact the number of migrants entering the US illegally.

According to Vance, the Department of Homeland Security is underestimating the number of illegal immigrants.

“Whatever the actual number is, it’s way too high. It’s millions and millions of illegal immigrants that have come in since Kamala Harris became border czar a couple of years ago,” Vance told NBC News host Kristen Welker in an interview that aired Sunday morning.

Welker tried to clarify: “She was charged with addressing the root causes of migration.”

“Well, Kristen, I think the root cause of migration is Kamala Harris refusing to do her job as border czar,” he joked.

Harris and Democrats said last week at the National Convention in Chicago that the border can be secured and asylum seekers can enter the US at the same time.

Democrats have long clung to the semantics of Harris’ job in addressing the border crisis, saying her role is to help Central American countries develop strategies to improve conditions so residents don’t feel the need to leave the U.S. and seek asylum.

But Republicans say she should have addressed the crisis at the border but has failed to reduce the number of illegal border crossings.

Vance said the only way to successfully solve the illegal immigration crisis is to end Biden’s presidency in January and give Trump a chance to restore his policies in a second term.
