I’ve got the B-Factor: Broody Simon Cowell admits he’d love to be a dad for the second time

I have the B factor: Broody Simon Cowell admits at age 63 he would like to be a father for the second time to complete his family

Simon Cowell has revealed he hopes to become a father for the second time – at the age of 63.

The X Factor judge already has an eight-year-old son, Eric, following an unplanned pregnancy with socialite Lauren Silverman, who was married to one of his friends.

Now the reality TV guru, who got engaged to Miss Silverman, 45, in 2021, has said he longs for one more child to complete their family.

He told the Mail: ‘Will it happen? Don’t know. But I would like another child. Being a dad is the best thing that ever happened to me.

“Literally two days ago, I was thinking about this and thinking, ‘Yeah, it would be nice to have another one.'”

He added, “I love every second I spend with Eric and I really mean that, every second.

“Those years, when they are young, I had such a great experience. I thought, probably because of this, that I would want another child.

“But I’m 64 this year and Eric is nine this year and, you know, when I play football with him, my God, I have to get fit to play with him – in a positive way.” His energy is off the chart.’

The creator of Britain’s Got Talent also spoke about Bruno Tonioli’s appointment as judge after comedian David Walliams stepped down from the ITV show.

In December, it emerged that Walliams had been recorded referring to an older contestant as a “c***” during auditions two years earlier and making other off-the-air disparaging comments.

He said the decision to leave was Walliams’s,” he added: “Those comments are clearly unacceptable. We had a conversation. He agreed with what he had said. That’s not the ethos of the show. I hadn’t heard [the comments] before the story came out. It’s not something I would ever approve of.’

While it was reported that comedian Alan Carr would be his replacement, Cowell said there was no resentment over the decision to choose Strictly star Tonioli instead.

“The show is working and I’m happy,” he added. Britain’s Got Talent airs tonight at 8pm on ITV.
