McDonald’s fans are stunned after learning the main ingredient in Sweet ‘n’ Sour is a type of fruit.
Melbourne breakfast show radio hosts Jase and Lauren revealed the true taste on air – and the realization ‘ruined’ the taste for many.
In a resurfaced TikTok video, Lauren Phillips spoiled her co-host Jason Hawkins with nuggets and his favorite sauce.
But he wasn’t too happy when he was told the popular dip is made with apricot.
“I hate apricots… I can taste the apricot now,” Jase said, throwing the half-eaten nugget away.

“Have you ever thought about what the flavor of Sweet ‘n Sour sauce actually is?” Hannah asked as her co-host dug into the sauce-covered chicken nuggets.
At first, Jase was excited to eat nuggets and called it a “good day.”
But after he took his first bite, Hannah said, “Would you believe it’s actually… apricot flavored?”
Jase paused before sharing his hatred for apricots and tossing the nugget aside.
The video quickly caught the attention of thousands of people who seemed just as shocked as Jase.
Other ingredients in McDonald’s Sweet ‘n Sour sauce include peach puree, salt, xanthan gum, garlic powder, cellulose gum, dried chili peppers, onion powder, caramel coloring, paprika extracts and more.
“Omg my mom used to make apricot chicken,” one wrote, while another said, “Apricot goes so well with chicken, it makes so much sense.”
A third added: ‘Discovering Caesar salad dressing has destroyed my love for it.’
McDonald’s Australia’s official TikTok account also commented and made a suggestion.
“Listen, try dipping your Soft Serve in sweet and sour sauce,” the account wrote.

However, others claim that they have known about the true taste of the sauce for years.
“How can people not know this?” someone asked.
“Sweet n Sour is essentially apricot jam and white vinegar,” claimed another.
