ITV is reportedly looking for senior citizens to star in a brand new programme.
The idea is that Date My Nan – a working title – will follow the journey of single seniors on their search for love, with the help of a grandchild, friend or neighbour.
Bosses are said to have been inspired by the success of last year’s middle-aged love quest My Mum Your Dad.
The dating show, presented by Davina McCall, was a huge success when it hit screens in September last year, following a group of single adult parents who, with the help of their children, set out to find love.
A source said The sun: ‘Producers know that the tender, emotional scenes where the older daters get ready with their loved one will lead to genuinely beautiful, heartwarming content.
ITV is reportedly looking for senior citizens to star in a brand new show that will follow the journey of single seniors as they search for love.
Bosses are said to have been inspired by the success of last year’s middle-aged love search My Mum Your Dad (pictured: Roger and Janey who met in season one and are still together)
‘In My Mum, Your Dad, viewers especially appreciated the honest moments when the men opened up to each other, or widower Roger burst into tears because of his late wife’s cancer.
‘Viewers no longer just want to see beautiful people pursuing their lusts – and Date My Nan will have that depth.’
ITV is believed to be considering a format for the Fresh Cuts sector, which aims to offer thought-provoking content across all its platforms.
This could also mean that Date My Nan could potentially be streamed online and on air channels.
MailOnline has contacted ITV for comment.
The second season of My Mum, Your Dad, which was nominated for a BAFTA after its initial broadcast, is expected to be aired in the autumn.
Meanwhile Roger and Janey who met in season one looked more in love than ever as they posed for love snaps during a few days away from each other.
The couple won the hearts of fans after meeting on the first episode of the ITV middle-aged dating show and are still together almost a year later.
Earlier this year, the couple teamed up with fashion brand JD Williams to pick out their go-to outfit for a romantic date night at home.
Like Your Mum My Dad, Date My Nan – a working title – is thought to enlist the help of a grandchild, friend or neighbour in finding a love partner.

The show worked for Roger and Janey, who looked more in love than ever as they posed for love photos during a recent vacation
The postman explained: ‘For Valentine’s Day I’m going to cook a meal for Janey. The plan is to have a nice, quiet dinner for two, with a bottle of red wine.
‘It doesn’t matter if we’re relaxing indoors or at a fancy restaurant, I love spending time with Janey and she looks amazing in everything she wears!’
When asked how he found love again later in life, Roger said, “Dating in middle age can be tough. You’re trying to spend time with your kids and still have some time for yourself. But it’s really important to have some time for yourself and reconnect.”
Janey added: ‘I’m so looking forward to a relaxing evening with Roger. We’re inseparable these days and love spending time together, so we’re going to make sure this night is extra special.’
