In a major uproar, ITV has decided to ‘cancel’ the Weekender franchise ahead of Big Brother’s return later this year.
The wild series, which has been running for 10 years, followed holiday reps and a group of young adults in some of Europe’s most renowned party destinations.
Drunk partygoers have been flying to Ibiza, Magaluf and Kavos over the past decade and taking part in the series.
Weekender has spawned a number of popular reality stars, including David Potts and Jordan Davies, who are said to be “gutted” by the news.
An insider told The Sun: ‘The cast were recently told that planned filming later this year has been canceled and the show is not coming back. They are all broken because many of them have been on it for years and it has always been a popular format.
‘The show isn’t coming back’: In a big shakeup, ITV has decided to ‘cancel’ the Weekender franchise ahead of its return on Big Brother later this year
“ITV2 has had to make some tough decisions as Big Brother’s return later this year takes up a huge chunk of the schedule, and it looks like the Weekender series is one of those casualties…
“Obviously, in television land, shows can always come back to life, so it’s not necessarily gone forever, but it’s off the map for the foreseeable future.”
For series one to three, Weekender was based in Magaluf at the Lively Hotel before moving to Ibiza in 2015 to 2020 for the fourth series.
Following the coronavirus pandemic, the ITV2 show moved to the Morfeas Hotel in Kavos for its tenth series.
The show followed two different sets of young people between the ages of 18 and 24 enjoying boozy nights and for some it was their first holiday without their parents.

It comes after Kavos Weekender star Ethan Aveiro revealed early this year that he had been put on ‘standby’ for a huge reality TV show, before joining the ITV series.
The 22-year-old model revealed that he was approached by Love Island in February 2022 and “went through the process” to audition for the show, but later turned down the offer he received.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Ethan revealed, “So the whole TV process started for me last February and I got cast in Love Island, I just got approached on Instagram from the verified account.”

Ethan, who is friends with former Love Island stars like Billy Brown, continued, “From then until about May I went through all the checks and got to the final stage to the point where they just had to offer me something.
‘Then ITV asked if I would be interested in doing Weekender as they had me on the books so I said yes as options are always fun and went through the same process but a lot quicker.
“They then offered me a spot, so I went back and told Love Island to try and push them for an answer. They then said that they could only offer me standby at the moment and that I didn’t want to take the risk.’
The footballer, who plays for Hashtag United alongside Toby Aromolaran, added: “Looking back I’m glad I chose it because it’s a bit more me, it’s lighthearted, fun and relatable.”
And Ethan isn’t the only new Kavos Weekender representative to catch the attention of the Love Island producers.
Lucy Appleton, who has 671,000 TikTok followers, also went through the process but was later turned down by the ITV dating show.
