It’s time to party like it’s 1989! Melbourne hotel launches special Taylor Swift-inspired cocktails to celebrate her Aussie Eras tour

It looks like all of Australia is getting into the Taylor Swift mood ahead of her highly anticipated Eras tour Down Under.

And now a Melbourne hotel has launched a special drinks menu inspired by the pop star so guests can ‘party like it’s 1989’.

Only this week the Ovolo Hotel South Yarra serves six different tasty cocktails and mocktails.

First on the signature list is the ‘French Blondie (Taylor Swift’s version)’, a mix of London Dry Gin, Lillet Blanc, St Germain and grapefruit juice, finished with grapefruit peels.

Meanwhile, ‘Champagne Problems’ features a thirst-quenching concoction of French champagne, elderflower liqueur, soda water and a dash of gold edible glitter.

For something fruitier, guests can enjoy a ‘Swift-Jito’ with white rum, lime, sugar syrup, watermelon and mint leaves.

And ‘Shake It Off’ with something non-alcoholic includes a berry-licious drink named after Taylor’s hit, with NON 3, raspberry syrup, lime juice, sugar syrup, Fever Tree elderflower tonic and thyme sprig, lemon peel and raspberries.

Two other mocktails, ‘Cruel Summer’ and ‘Lavender Haze’, are also on the list.

All drinks are available from February 12 to 17 at Lona Misa South Yarra, Backroom South Yarra and Amphlett House CBD.

Lona Misa Restaurant in the Ovolo in South Yarra is one of the few hotels in the world with a Latin American vegan and vegetarian menu.

The kitchen is led by Melbourne celebrity chefs Shannon Martinez and Ian Curley.

Signature dishes include Braised Lamb Barbacoa Tostadas, Tacu Tacu – slow roasted eggplant, Panela and Enchilada sauce and Moqueca – a Brazilian seafood stew.

Meanwhile, rooms at the hotel cost upwards of $205 per night, with guests able to choose to lay their heads in the ‘Go Go Snug’, ‘Boogie’ and ‘Groovy’ rooms, and for a little more space its ‘Rock Star suites available.

The Ovolo Group was founded by entrepreneur Girish Jhunjhnuwala, and Ovolo Hotels has quickly become one of Hong Kong and Australia’s most popular accommodation chains.

With interior design elements from the era of disco, rock gods and retro glamour, the atmosphere of Ovolo South Yarra is bold, creative and unapologetically retro.

Taylor Swift brings her Eras tour to Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from February 16 to 18, before heading to Sydney for four shows at Accor Stadium from February 23 to 26.

If you missed out on tickets to the live shows, don’t worry. A new version of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will be available exclusively on Disney+ starting March 15.

The latest version of the film, which became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, will feature five new songs, never before seen in theaters or in previous digital versions, so Swifties can experience the entire show.
