It’s official: almost everyone is much more productive when we work from home
Working from home continues to be a hugely popular option for people around the world, with new research showing that the vast majority (83%) say they feel more productive in a hybrid/remote working environment than in an office or on-site environment.
A questionnaire from knowledge worker-focused Zoom, seems to confirm that many companies will continue the work-from-home trend post-Covid. For example, 50% of leaders say they have implemented more flexible work styles in the past two years, and 82% plan to continue doing so in the future.
And despite the distance, hybrid workers say they feel more connected to their teams and managers, with 82% saying they feel a stronger connection, compared to 72% of in-person workers.
Technology needs an overhaul
Nearly all IT leaders who responded confirm that they are using AI in their organizations (94%), and 84% of them say it has a positive impact on productivity.
Still, nearly two-thirds (64%) of workers said generative AI in particular helped them do their jobs, meaning a significant portion of the workforce is not yet fully convinced of the technology.
However, the majority of respondents agreed that their organizationβs remote working technology and tools need to be improved, with 75% believing their current organizational structure was inadequate.
Zoom’s findings aren’t exactly surprising, as research consistently shows that employees are happier and more productive when given the option to work remotely.
Earlier this month a Report on American Workplace Culture Research has shown that employees are 60% less likely to quit their jobs, 27% more likely to enjoy their jobs, and 67% more likely to put in more effort when they can work from home.
Further research into workplaces has revealed that many workplaces need to invest in their tools and technology, as nearly two-thirds of office spaces are no longer optimised for remote working.
