It’s not Tifa, but the addition of Final Fantasy 16’s Clive Rosfield to the Tekken 8 roster still makes me very happy
- Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy 16 will soon be coming to Tekken 8 as a playable character
- Season 1 Pass holders will have access to the character starting December 16, 2024
- The Phoenix Gate stage is also added to the game
Tekken 8s The fourth and final DLC character for the one-year season pass is none other than Clive Rosfield, protagonist of Final fantasy 16.
Clive will be added to the Tekken 8 selection on December 16 for Playable Character Year 1 Pass owners, also including fighters Eddy Gordo, Lidia Sobieska and Heihachi Mishima. Clive will be released for individual purchase on December 19 after a 72-hour early access period.
Clive’s fighting style Tekken 8 seems to be a very faithful representation of his abilities Final fantasy 16. He fights with a sword and can call upon the power of Eikons such as Titan, Leviathan and Phoenix to launch opponents, extend combos and perform Heat actions. His powerful Rage Art also causes him to transform into the Eikon Ifrit.
A brand new stage will also be bundled with Clive: Phoenix Gate. This is an iconic and important location Final fantasy 16, and it’s hard to think of a more fitting background for him Tekken 8 appearance.
I’m sure many people – including myself – would have preferred Tifa Lockhart to take the guest character’s place. Her move took effect Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth making her seem tailor-made for a fighting game look.
That said, I’m still very happy with Clive, and it’s great to see Ben Starr returning to voice the beloved leading man. And hey, Tekken 8 isn’t going anywhere anytime soon – there’s still every chance Tifa will be added later, perhaps around the time Part 3 of the Remake series is announced.
We already knew about the fourth Tekken 8 The DLC character would be revealed at The Game Awards 2024, as game director Katsuhiro Harada confirmed during the Tekken World Tour finals last week.
Tekken 8s winter update, which includes improvements to photo mode, player search, and 30th anniversary cosmetics via a new Fight Pass, should follow shortly after Clive’s release.
