Disturbing new video from Philadelphia shows addicts on the streets in a trance-like state, passed out on the sidewalk in the city’s many homeless encampments.
In the Kensington area, footage shows fires burning on rubbish-strewn sidewalks as groups of people set up camp.
Drug users are seen hunched over with no control of their limbs, while others are seen sprawled across the rubbish-covered streets.
Large groups have taken over the sidewalks and turned them into homeless camps where many people live in their own filth.
Known as ground zero for the city’s drug epidemic, the neighborhood has become an open-air drug market.
Business owners have taken matters into their own hands to prevent addicts from hanging around in front of their stores

Many of the addicts living on the streets are forced to resort to crime and theft to make a living.
A local activist revealed that businesses are using booby traps, such as sprinkler systems, to keep drug addicts away from their stores.
“Companies end up throwing soapy water on the floor so it gets wet and it’s not a comfortable place to sit,” said activist Frank Rodriguez. “There are companies that set up sprinkler systems, they have to set up these crazy little hacks and booby traps to keep people on their toes.”
Data from the Philadelphia Police Department shows that citywide theft increased by two percent compared to last year and overall property crimes increased by 22.35 percent.
Additionally, crime data reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer shows that Kensington has one of the highest drug crime rates in the city.
Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy toured Kensington as part of a campaign stop. He captioned footage of his visit with, “The people I met in Kensington, PA didn’t care if there was an R or D next to your name. Fentanyl, Violence and Homelessness are the problem. That is what we come to solve. America first.”
The scene remains the same since Ramaswamy visited the district in July. Masses of people still live slumped in the ‘dope lean’, living on the streets.
The gruesome scene is fueled by the use of a powerful animal tranquilizer, Xylazine, known as ‘tranq’. It is a powerful sedative that has infiltrated the drug supply and is used to enhance the effects of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine.
