It’s getting funny that Nintendo keeps not announcing the Switch 2

It just keeps happening. Nintendo continues to announce various products and projects that are not the Switch 2, during the specific period in which everyone expects Nintendo to announce the Switch 2. Like it or not, fans and reporters alike have been in a holding pattern since May, when Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa posted an announcement on X (formerly Twitter) about the timing of the next console’s announcement, writing: “We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year.”

The thing is, Nintendo’s fiscal year doesn’t end until March 31, 2025. And yet, fans and industry experts all know that it would make sense for the company to announce its new hardware. for then, even if that won’t be the case available until Q1 2025.

So we were all wondering: would the announcement happen in June, with so many other game announcements happening? Clearly this was not the case. Perhaps there would be a behind-closed-doors preview of the console at Gamescom, or perhaps at Tokyo Game Show? No, it didn’t happen.

The past month in particular has made me question everything. These have all been there other Nintendo announcements. A few weeks ago a new piece of Nintendo hardware was announced – and it’s an alarm clock! Um, yeah, okay. Then a mysterious Nintendo playtest was leaked – and while it sounds cool, Nintendo getting into the MMO business says next to nothing about the direction of the company’s next hardware development. On Wednesday night, rumor mongers had fans gearing up for a new Nintendo announcement on the horizon, which turned out to be… the Nintendo Music app.

The third time’s the charm – it’s funny now. I have lost interest in the Switch 2. (Yes, I do.) It’s okay if this keeps happening! I am enjoy this actually. (I’m not.) I don’t even want to to play Metroid Prime 4 more. (I want nothing more.) I don’t even care if it’s a Switch 2 launch title.

(Is that so? I need to know. Please. Just tell me. Is that so? Do any of these things even exist? Has this all been just a dream? Am I going to hear the Alarmo any minute now?)
