A Republican lawmaker has accused senior US intelligence officials of abusing their power to destroy stories about the first son’s disgraced laptop.
Congressman Mike Turner, who represents Ohio in the House of Representatives and chairs the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said some of the country’s top spies mislabeled the New York Post’s reporting as the work of the Kremlin .
The 2020 article broke the news that the 53-year-old appeared to be using his connections with his father to land lucrative business deals abroad.

Turner spoke to Fox News about a letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials discrediting reports of Hunter’s leaked emails.
“Joe Biden knew he was lying to the American public, and he used these 51, who had previous intelligence credentials, to claim that something was Russian misinformation,” Turner said.
The head of the House intelligence committee said there had been “unexplained infusions of money into the Biden family that really lack reason and understanding.”
“The FBI should consider these as evidence of a crime. But in fact it seems that the FBI is not very helpful if not obscuring Congress — hindering the Congressional investigation,” he added.
The 63-year-old alleged that Secretary of State Antony Blinken, then serving as a Biden campaign adviser, helped organize the intelligence officials’ public statement.
Turner’s comments came Tim Burchett, a Republican congressman from Tennessee, said GOP officials had been unable to “track down” one of their key witnesses.
Burchett said the FBI and DOJ are “turning a blind eye” to both the missing informant and the alleged corruption of the Biden family.
“It’s paramount that the FBI work with us to be able to try to establish what investigations they’ve done, what investigations they’ve done, because we have people who want to come forward, but frankly they fear for their lives.” ‘ he told Fox News.
Burchett sits on the House of Representatives’ oversight committee, which is headed by James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, and it is the elected body’s main investigative panel.

Comer has already opened an investigation alleging as many as ten members of the Biden family took advantage of their connections to the commander in chief.
Biden’s business dealings have long irked members of the GOP, who accuse the president’s son of exploiting his family ties to win lucrative contracts abroad.

He previously had business interests in China and Ukraine, though the longtime lobbyist denies any wrongdoing.
