Italy survived a late attack to record their first home win in the Six Nations since 2015, beating Scotland 31-29.

The Azzurri held firm and survived a late attack to seal the shock victory, extinguishing their Scottish title hopes.

Italy are used to losing every game in the Six Nations; last year they didn’t even manage a draw.

It was hailed as a brilliant report by Italy, with the players in tears at the final whistle.

Italy center Ignacio Brex said: ‘We are very happy. We worked hard today and maybe we will have something special afterwards, but we will prepare for the next match and celebrate that too today.

“We talked a lot about the passion and I think we showed the world that we have the passion in the last few minutes of the match. It’s not a problem, it’s in our blood.

“It means a lot for the movement of Italian rugby.”
