‘It would be so much fun’: Lacey Chabert says she would ‘absolutely’ do a Mean Girls reboot – after Lindsay Lohan also expressed interest in a potential sequel

Lacey Chabert has revealed that she would “absolutely” love to do a Mean Girls reboot.

The actress, 40, played Gretchen Wieners in the teen classic that has developed a strong cult following since its release in 2004.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lacey was asked if she felt like returning to her role in a sequel.

She said, “Absolutely. I think it would be so much fun to see where these women are now and if their kids are the new Mean Girls. I’d like to know what they’re doing.’

Turning to the film’s writer, Tina Fey, Lacey looked into the camera and said, “Let’s just do it.”

The film starred Lindsay Lohan as Cady Heron, a teenager who moves from Africa to an Illinois suburb.

She joins a clique of popular girls called The Plastics, but finds herself in the crosshairs of leader Regina George (Rachel McAdams) when she falls in love with her boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett).

Lacey was also asked about her famous Mean Girls catchphrase “so fetch,” which she said people still say her “every day of my life.”

She added: ‘I was sick the other day and picked up a prescription and the pharmacist said, “Oh, you don’t look like you look very attractive today.”

Lindsay has also expressed interest in making a Mean Girls sequel, previously sharing a throwback photo of herself with the cast and writing, “#tbt miss you all… sequel?”

The actress recently appeared on The Tonight Show discussing the possibility of a sequel, saying, “I think that’s in Tina Fey’s hands.”

In her latest movie Falling For Christmas, Lindsay makes a nod to Mean Girls with a performance of Jingle Bell Rock, which she and The Plastics famously danced to in the film.

Daniel Franzese has also expressed interest in a sequel Behind the Velvet Rope podcast he would like to do.

He said, “I would do it in any form. This movie brings so much joy to people. […] I mean, I want to make a whole movie with the whole cast.

Mean Girls already spawned a TV sequel in 2011 with a different cast than the original film.
