An Israeli woman has been hailed as heroic after saving the Nir Am kibbutz from Hamas as infiltrating forces began to overrun the border village.
Inbar Lieberman, 25, who is the security coordinator of Kibbutz Nir Am, located a stone’s throw from the Gaza Strip, leads a group of residents to kill more than two dozen advancing terrorists.
Lieberman, who has been part of a security detail in the region since December 2022, heard explosions that erupted early Saturday as Hamas launched the unprecedented and deadly attack on Israel, according to Walla News.
She quickly realized the sounds were different from those she heard during regular rocket attacks on the kibbutz, and hurried to open the armory and distribute the weapons among the 12-member security team.
She placed her squad of kibbutzniks in strategic positions throughout the settlement, set up ambushes, and turned the tables on the incoming forces.

“But Inbal made a decision not to wait and jump operationally. In fact, the fact that they did it early prevented dozens of casualties.’

Israel announced on Tuesday the end of a heightened security barrier around the Gaza Strip, designed to prevent militants from sneaking into the country.
The 40-mile barrier includes radar systems, marine sensors and a network of underground sensors to detect militant tunnels.
The existing fence was replaced with a 6.5 meter high ‘smart fence’ with sensors and cameras.
Israel has fought four wars with Hamas since the Islamist militant group seized power in Gaza nearly 15 years ago, most recently in May.
During a 2014 war, Palestinian militants entered the tunnel into Israel and clashed with Israeli troops.
Defense Minister Benny Gantz announced the end of the barrier after more than three years of construction, saying it places an “iron wall” between Hamas and residents of southern Israel.
During the May fighting, Hamas used a sophisticated tunnel system inside Gaza, but did not infiltrate fighters into Israel.
The group fired more than 4,000 rockets into Israel in 11 days, with large volleys that occasionally overwhelmed Israel’s sophisticated missile defenses.
Israel carried out hundreds of airstrikes during the conflict and demolished several high-rise buildings.
Israel announced on Tuesday the end of an expanded security barrier around the Gaza Strip designed to prevent militants from sneaking into the country.
The fighting killed more than 250 people in Gaza, including at least 129 civilians, according to the UN, while 13 people died on the Israeli side.
Since Hamas took power, Israel and Egypt have imposed a crippling blockade on Gaza that has severely restricted travel for the territory’s 2 million Palestinian residents and stifled the economy.
Israel says the closures are necessary to prevent Hamas from expanding its military capabilities, while Palestinians and rights groups see it as a form of collective punishment.
In 2018 and 2019, Hamas organized mass violent protests along the border in order to pressure Israel to ease the blockade.
More than 200 Palestinians were killed and thousands were injured. An Israeli soldier was killed by a Palestinian sniper.
Human rights groups recently accused Israel of not holding its forces accountable for the deaths and serious injuries.
Israel says its forces prevented a mass infiltration by Hamas operatives. He says allegations of wrongdoing were fully investigated and soldiers were held accountable.
