“Reality has turned into a nightmare,” says the Israeli ambassador
Israel’s ambassador to the UK has said the country’s reality has ‘become a nightmare’ and said his army must protect its people.
Tzipi Hotovely told BBC Breakfast: “Israel is in a war that Hamas started yesterday. Calculated. Planned. Targeting Israelis, targeting civilians, targeting innocent children.
“We saw Prime Minister Sunak, we saw President Biden yesterday, they are supporting Israel’s right to self-defense, because we are in a reality that has turned into a nightmare.
“There is nothing else we can do… we have to protect our people.
“This is a necessary war. (Israel) did not expect this to happen (but) we have to make sure that the infrastructure of terrorism is 100 percent destroyed.’
Hamas terrorists entered Israel on motorized paragliders in a lightning offensive yesterday morning, as thousands of rockets rained down across the south of the country.
Footage showed teams of Palestinians on suicide missions flying over the border in planes, spreading fear and chaos among huddled families before landing and opening fire on Israeli civilians and soldiers.
The attack saw terrorists fire about 2,500 rockets into Israel at 7am UK time, with explosives falling on major cities and even as far away as Tel Aviv, nearly 50 miles away.
Convoys of motorcycles and trucks then sped into Israel, while other terrorists reportedly jumped into heavily armed skiffs to attack the naval defenses.

Video shows the moment Israel flattens Gaza’s tower blocks in revenge attacks
Video has revealed the moment Israeli retaliatory strikes leveled two tower blocks in the Gaza Strip overnight and in the early hours of this morning.
A rocket attack on the Palestine Tower in the Al-Rimal neighborhood reduced one of the tallest buildings in the territory to rubble.
Israel launched retaliatory strikes in the Gaza Strip this morning after an unprecedented covert attack that left at least 300 Israelis dead.
As the sun rose on Sunday after Israel’s deadliest day of violence in 50 years, the Jewish nation’s warplanes pounded Gaza City with bombs in retaliatory strikes.
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza had intensified overnight, leveling residential buildings in giant explosions, including a 14-story tower block housing dozens of apartments, as well as Hamas offices in central Gaza City. Israeli forces issued a warning shortly before.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier today that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have begun the ‘offensive phase’ of their response to yesterday’s surprise attack.
