Israel Adesanya is left STUNNED as Alexander Volkanovski is dealt brutal KO defeat against Islam Makhachev at UFC 294… but tells featherweight champ he’s ‘still the best’ despite title fight loss

Israel Adesanya was left stunned after Alexander Volkanovski was brutally knocked out by Islam Makhachev at UFC 294.

Makhachev defeated the Australian with a devastating head kick and punches in the first round of their highly anticipated rematch.

It was an impressive performance from Makhachev and ended the debate that remained after the pair’s first fight in February.

Incredibly, it was only the second time Volkanovski has been stopped in his career and it came as a shock to training partner Adesanya.

On his YouTube channel, FREESTYLBENDERAdesanya posted his live reaction to the lightweight showdown.

Once Volkanovski was kicked to the ground, Adesanya was silenced as he wrapped his hands around his head in despair.

He repeated “F***” several times as he described what he had just seen.

Trying to keep a brave face, Adesanya continued to support Volkanovski as he said, “Still the best guy. I love this man…f***’.

“I felt strong,” said an emotional Volkanovski after his defeat. “I felt strong there, but I told you clearly that I want to give him some hands and everything.

“I wanted to pull the trigger, but it just felt a little weird, a little hesitant, which I didn’t expect. It was like I was waiting for something. I thought, ‘I’m going, I’m going,’ and then he grabbed me.”

Meanwhile, Adesanya also responded to Kamaru Usman’s points defeat to Khamzat Chimaev by saying, “It is what it is.”
