If you’re worried about AI taking over your job, you’re not alone – and it’s not unfounded.
According to reports, 375 million jobs are at stake globally by 2030, with financial advisors and brokers, insurers and data processors topping the list.
A new AI calculator estimates how much of your work today’s AI can handle. Answer six questions about your job and you’ll get a percentage back.
The creators recommend that you really think about your specific role and the way you perform it, not just your title and to-do list.
First, what is your overall role?
The calculator has 26 different professions to choose from, including accounting, administrative work, consulting, engineering, finance, information technology, legal, marketing, program and project management, real estate, sales and support.
The next few questions ask you to estimate how many of your jobs use skills that aren’t suitable for AI: intuition or feelings. Some roles rely heavily on things like empathy and listening to your “gut feeling.”

Then, how many of your tasks could lead to “critical failure” at the corporate or organizational level if not done properly? In many cases, the higher the risk, the more important it is that a person makes those decisions.
You also need to decide how much of your work is based on knowledge of (written or unwritten) rules or processes. Humans are much more suited than AI to deal with uncertainty and to improvise.
Then, how many of your tasks follow a predictable approach in unfamiliar situations? The example here: A pilot’s job has many predictable duties. A firefighter? Not so much. AI is not equipped to think like a human on the fly.
And finally, at what organizational level do you work? The possibilities vary from Student/Trainee to Executive.
The results
We tested a few rolls to see what percentage AI can handle according to the calculator.
● Marketing manager: 67%
● Entry level administrative professional: 86%
● Board level legal: 52%
● Manager-level engineer: 55%
● Executive level sales: 76%
Keep in mind that the answers you give based on your specific task and how you perform it will significantly affect the results. It is clear that artificial intelligence is much more suitable for some roles than others.
