Atlantic Beach, which sits on the western tip of Long Island, is just an hour’s drive away, as opposed to the much-vaunted Hamptons, 100 miles to the east – and a good two and a half hours’ drive, on a good day.
The Hamptons has long been the summer playground for wealthy New Yorkers and celebrities with many high profile individuals owning real estate and vacation homes in the area.
It offers beautiful sandy beaches, luxury shopping, art galleries, upscale restaurants and a vibrant nightlife, making it a sought-after vacation destination for the rich and famous.
When it comes to real estate, the Hampton’s market is one of the most expensive in the country – but now Atlantic Beach may be giving the area a run for its money.

The most expensive property currently for sale in the village of 2,000 was recently listed with an asking price of $11.5 million – a new all-time high for the area.
The 7,000-square-foot home at 139 Bayside Drive consists of six bedrooms and six bathrooms.
When it was last on the market, it sold for $2.33 million.
