Two friends have filmed what they claim is the ghost of a soldier sitting quietly on a bench next to a war memorial.

When Newton took out his phone to film the statue at the World War I and World War II memorial, he saw what appeared to be the “misty figure” of a man sitting on a bench.
The engineer, from Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, admitted he was a paranormal skeptic but said seeing the ghostly figure “changed his perspective” when it came to spirits and made him a believer.
The Northam War Memorial inscription bears the names of soldiers lost between 1914 and 1919 and between 1939 and 1945.
“It looked like a really misty figure,” Mr. Newton said. ‘It was clear. he was like someone [was] literally sitting there.
“It was definitely a male figure, so it very well could have been the ghost of a soldier.”
Josh Newton, 21, said he was a paranormal skeptic before seeing the misty figure on the bench, which he said made him believe in ghosts.
George Moore, 21, was driving with his friend on December 28 when Newton thought he saw the translucent figure.
‘When I adjusted my eyes to look a little closer, it disappeared. She was to my left, and then she was completely gone. It was weird. When we turned the corner, she just disappeared.
‘I feel 100% that it was a ghost. It was clear as day with the naked eye.
Mr Newton added: ‘I was surprised. I looked and did not know what I saw. And then I looked at the video and I thought no, there was something there and now it’s just gone.
‘I didn’t believe in the paranormal, but now I do. It has changed my perspective. It has turned me.

Immediately after the sighting, the two friends turned the car around to investigate.
However, when they returned to the eerie scene, the bench was empty and the ghost had vanished.
Newton said the video has been a hit with skeptical family and friends, who said the footage “is like nothing they’ve ever seen before.”
‘There was no one around, it was just George and me. I’m glad I got it on film, because no one would have believed me. [otherwise],’ he said.
‘My family couldn’t believe it. They said it was like nothing they had seen before.
‘Some of my family are skeptical, some of them believe [in ghosts] and some of them didn’t, but it kind of ended that for them.
