A south London club owned by British rapper Stormzy and former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha believe they have broken the record for the world’s fastest ever goal.
Croydon FC took on Cockfosters Development in the semi-finals of the London Senior Trophy on Saturday, with former Leeds United striker Ryan Hall heading straight for goal from kick-off.
His left-footed effort caught the goalkeeper off guard and went over his head, with the goal clocked at just 2.31 seconds.
Hall looked stunned by his own strike as he celebrated by stretching his arms wide as his teammates chased after his sensational goal.
Croydon – who have been owned by Stormzy and Zaha since last year after the unlikely pair joined forces – posted the goal on their X account and claimed it was the fastest goal in history before seeking confirmation from the Guinness World Records .

The message read: ‘We finally have a video of Ryan Hall scoring @Croydon_FC’s first goal against @CockfostersDev in the London Senior Trophy.
‘The goal was timed at 2.31 seconds, which we believe is the fastest goal in the world in senior football. Can you confirm @GWR?’
GWR responded to the goal with the response ‘what a goal son, what a goal’, but they could not confirm whether it was the fastest goal ever.
However, it appears that Hall’s goal may have just missed the quickest in history.
Gavin Stokes scored for Maryhill against Clydebank in a West of Scotland Super League First Division match after just 2.1 seconds in 2017, with the goal going viral on social media.
That goal was the second fastest ever, behind Nawaf Al Abed’s goal which came after two seconds in a 4-0 win for Al-Hilal over Al Shoalah in Saudi Arabia.
Vuk Bakic also found the net after just 2.2 seconds in a match between GSP Polet and FK Dorcol in the Serbian Second Division in 2012, meaning Hall’s miracle strike is perhaps the fourth fastest goal ever.
However, it still eclipses the fastest ever goal in the Premier League, which was scored by Southampton’s Shane Long in 7.69 seconds against Watford in 2019.
