Is there anything he can’t do? Robert Irwin teases surprise new career move after rumours he would replace Daniel Craig as James Bond

Robert Irwin has set his sights on country music stardom in just two months after securing a landmark nomination for the prestigious Golden Logie.

The 21-year-old is already a successful conservationist, TV presenter, photographer, occasional male model and red carpet host, as well as the new face of Queensland tourism.

Robert has revealed a secret he ‘never told anyone’ in a new interview with Stellar, revealing that he has written his own music and would like to release his own album one day.

“I’ve never told anyone this, but I’ve written things,” the wildlife warrior said.

“I’ve been writing little bits and pieces. I love writing music and putting songs together with different chords.

“And I wrote some stuff that I played for a very small group of people who liked it. But that small group of people is all friends and family, so they are biased. Who knows if it’s really any good. But [would I release an album]? Who knows?’

The 21-year-old first picked up a guitar during the Covid-19 lockdowns and has since also taken up the ukulele and banjo.

For those keeping track at home, that was four years ago, when he was only 16.

Steve Irwin’s youngest child is something of a young renaissance man, having found success in two to three career changes per year since then.

While Robert didn’t specifically comment on the genre of his own musical style, country seems to have his heart.

During the pandemic, he uploaded a sweet video of himself serenading his pug Stella with Johnny Cash’s song Ghost Riders In The Sky.

Leaving school at 18, Irwin spent his summer on an Australian road trip with Stella, his surfboard, skateboard and beloved guitar.

He then surprised fans by taking a stage in Las Vegas in May this year, where he performed alongside country music star Lee Kernaghan at the Steve Irwin Gala.

Robert wore a suit as he performed a rendition of the Australian hitmaker’s song Outback Club.

He shared a photo gallery from the event on Instagram.

In one photo, the famed conservationist is seen strumming an acoustic guitar with great intensity.

Country music is currently experiencing its own renaissance in Australia, with the country being the second largest consumer of the genre in the world after the United States.

Meanwhile, festival organizers reported at a recent music industry breakfast panel hosted by Variety that while tentpole multi-genre festivals such as Splendor in the Grass and Groovin’ in the Moo had fallen, country music festivals such as Ridin’ Hearts and CMC Rocks had sold out. in record time.

It’s not just music that Robert would like to discover.

Last month he was lightheartedly suggested as a possible replacement for Daniel Craig in the next James Bond film after sharing a photo of himself wearing a tuxedo on Instagram.

‘One of those people [who suggested me for Bond] was Jasin Boland, the photographer for the 007 films with Daniel Craig,” Irwin told the magazine while confirming his interest in the role.

‘And when he commented, I was like, ‘Oh, wait a minute… [maybe]?”

The rising young star attributed his enthusiastic attitude in tackling new careers to both nature and nurture, saying that as he has grown older, he has realized he can use his personal fame to further the causes close to his heart to promote.
