Coldplay’s headline performance at Glastonbury could be their swan song after Chris Martin confirmed the band’s next album will be their last.
The band will perform at Somerset’s Worthy Farm in June, alongside fellow Pyramid Stage artists Dua Lipa, SZA and Shania Twain.
But fans of the four-piece, who formed in 1997, are left unsure of what the gig means after singer Martin revealed they will stop recording music after the release of their tenth studio album, Moon Music, in 2025.
Speaking to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 in 2021 he said: ‘Well, I know I can tell you that our last real record will be out in 2025 and after that I think we’ll just tour.
“Maybe we’ll work together some more, but then the Coldplay catalog will be over, so to speak.”

“We’re going to make twelve albums,” he said. ‘Because it’s a lot to put everything into its production. I love it and it’s great, but it’s also very intense.
‘Because I know the challenge is finite, I feel like making this music doesn’t feel hard, it feels like, “This is what we should be doing.”
‘I don’t think we’re going to do that. I know we will when it comes to studio albums.”
