Mayank Yadav, who would be the showstopper in the Lucknow Super Giants vs Gujarat Titans match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, April 7. However, it turned out to be a sour outing for the speedster as he got injured and walked off after throwing just one, that too on the powerplay.

Mayank did not look his best in the fourth over as he was driven for a four by Sai Sudharsan on the very first ball. It was a fantastic straight ride. Mayank followed it up with two bouncers, but just as he regained his length, he was hit for a four Sai. When Shubman Gill got the strike, he too hit a four to end the over with 13 runs.

Only then did Mayank walk back to the dugout and never return. It was later confirmed that he was out with a side strain.

Mayank Yadav did not cross the 150 mark

Mayank, who was hugely and rightly excited when he threw the fastest ever delivery in IPL 2024 and the fastest ever delivery by an Indian in cricket with a 156.7 km per hour ball against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the previous match of LSG, failed to reach the 150 mark today. He started at 90mph and stayed in the 140s the entire time.

Yash Thakur shines in Mayank’s absence

In the absence of Mayank Yadav, it was Yash Thakur who stole the spotlight as he became the first player in IPL 2024 to claim a five-wicket haul. His figures of 5/30 in 3.5 overs helped Lucknow defend the total of 163 to win the match by 33 runs and move to the third position in the points table.
