iPhone SE 4 could see a small price increase in exchange for major feature improvements

The iPhone SE 4 has been rumored for a while now, but until now we hadn’t heard anything about its potential price. Fortunately, the latest iPhone SE 4 tip do Finally give us insight into how much this supposedly budget phone could cost, but the numbers aren’t that promising.

According to a reliable leaker @Revegnus1, whose to rise. In the latter case, Apple still apparently won’t charge more than $499.

That’s not terrible news – and if the price of the phone stays the same, it’s really good news, especially since it replaces a model that’s now more than two years old.

Unfortunately, however, it looks like Apple will opt for higher regional prices; @Revegnus1 notes that the price of the iPhone SE 4 will increase by about 15% in Europe and other countries, regardless of whether the US price increases or not. That would translate to a starting price of around £500 / AU$820 (up from the £419 / AU$719 starting price of the current model).

An acceptable increase

Price increases are never desirable, but in reality these numbers don’t sound too unreasonable – apart from the fact that Apple apparently has ‘America-first’ pricing.

10-15% isn’t a huge price increase, and considering we’ll likely be at least three years ahead of the iPhone SE (2022) by the time we see the iPhone SE 4, it’s no real surprise that the price could rise, along with inflation.

Furthermore, rumors suggest that the iPhone SE 4 could be a major upgrade over the current model, with a new design that does away with the home button and huge bezels in favor of a notch and Face ID.

We’ve also heard that the iPhone SE 4 could have an action button, a larger screen, and possibly an OLED screen instead of an LCD. It’s also certainly powerful based on past form, although it’s unclear exactly which chipset it will use.

So you could get a lot of phone for your money with the iPhone SE 4, and those rumors would still put the device in line with the likes of the Google Pixel 8a, which seems fair enough.

In any case, we may not find out the confirmed price or specs of the iPhone SE 4 for a while, with most leaks suggesting we won’t see the phone until 2025 at the earliest.
