iPhone 16 specs predictions: Everything we expect from each model
The iPhone 16 series is likely just a few months away from launch at the time of writing. As is usual with new iPhones, there have already been dozens of leaks and rumors.
So, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from these phones, and below we’ve listed all the likely specs for each expected model: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
These predictions are based on the most credible leaks and rumors we’ve seen so far, combined with educated guesses based on Apple’s usual patterns. So none of this is confirmed, but there’s a good chance that a lot of it will turn out to be correct.

The iPhone 16 could feature an A17 Pro chipset (like the iPhone 15 Pro) or a new A18 chipset, depending on which leaks you believe.
In recent years, Apple has been equipping the standard iPhone models with the previous year’s Pro-level chipset, so if the company continues that pattern, it’s the A17 Pro we’ll see. However, even if it does get a new A18, it could still be a weaker chipset than the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are getting, as leaks have suggested they could be getting an A18 Pro instead. So whatever the case, expect the chipset here to be less powerful than the one inside the top-end iPhone 16 series models.
Multiple leaks have said the iPhone 16 will have 8GB of RAM, so that seems pretty much a certainty as there have been no conflicting reports. We’ve not heard much about storage, but it will likely be similar to the iPhone 15, with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB models on offer – though an iPhone 16 leak suggests we could see 256GB as the base capacity.
The iPhone 16’s display isn’t likely to get much of an upgrade either, with reports suggesting it’ll once again be 6.1 inches, likely with a 60Hz refresh rate and a resolution of around 1179 x 2556. Expect it to be OLED again, too, though one report suggests the iPhone 16’s display may be brighter than its predecessor at 2000 nits.
We have very specific specs for the battery. Multiple leaks have suggested that the iPhone 16 will have a 3,561mAh battery. That’s about 6% larger than the 3,349mAh battery in the iPhone 15.
Finally, the iPhone 16’s cameras likely won’t see any changes, with the same 48MP main and 12MP ultra-wide snappers as expected last year. There’s no word yet on the selfie camera, so for now we’ll assume that’ll also be 12MP, like on the iPhone 15.

The iPhone 16 Plus will likely share many of the same specs as the iPhone 16, based on both leaks and previous renders.
We then expect it to have the same chipset – either an A17 Pro or an A18, as discussed above.
The device is also likely to get the same amount of RAM, rumored to be 8GB, and identical storage capacities, likely 128GB, 256GB and 512GB – though one leak suggests a starting capacity of 256GB.
The display will likely be different from that of the iPhone 16, but in most respects similar to that of the iPhone 15 Plus. So we’re likely to see a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1290 x 2796 pixels again. Unfortunately, the iPhone 16 Plus will also likely have a 60Hz refresh rate, though it’s possible that the display will be brighter than that of the iPhone 15 Plus.
Unfortunately, multiple leaks suggest the iPhone 16 Plus will have a smaller battery than its predecessor, coming in at 4,006mAh instead of 4,383mAh.
As for the cameras, we’ll likely see the same cameras as last year on the iPhone 16 Plus, meaning a 48MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP front-facing camera.

Apple may have a number of upgrades planned for the iPhone 16 Pro, starting with the chipset, which is reportedly – unsurprisingly – a new A18 Pro.
However, this chipset is said to come paired with 8GB of RAM, just like in the iPhone 15 Pro. That’s a spec that could limit the iPhone 16 Pro’s AI capabilities.
We haven’t heard much about the iPhone 16 Pro’s storage capacities yet, but we’re guessing it’ll be largely the same as the iPhone 15 Pro, meaning 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. That said, one leak points to a max capacity of 2TB. It’s also possible that Apple will ditch the 128GB size, as it did with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
As for the screen, leaks suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro’s display will be slightly larger than its predecessor, at 6.3 inches, up from 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro’s screen could also be 20% brighter.
In terms of battery, leaks suggest the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 3,355mAh battery, making it slightly larger than the 3,290mAh battery in the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro is also said to feature faster charging, at 40W.
Finally, the iPhone 16 Pro is likely to get some camera upgrades, with leaks suggesting the device could get the 12MP 5x zoom camera that was found on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 Pro may also get a new 48MP ultra-wide camera, which would be an upgrade from the 12MP ultra-wide camera in the current model. However, the phone is reportedly set to retain the 48MP main camera and 12MP front-facing cameras of its predecessor.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is undoubtedly the most specced-out model in the iPhone 16 line (unless we get an iPhone 16 Ultra, that is).
The Pro Max reportedly won’t be more powerful than the iPhone 16 Pro, with the same A18 Pro chipset and 8GB of RAM as its smaller sibling.
For storage, one report suggests the iPhone 16 Pro Max will max out at 2TB, up from the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 1TB. There’s no word on the other capacities, but they’ll likely be the same as last year, meaning 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
We’ve also heard that the iPhone 16 Pro Max could sport a massive 6.9-inch display, up from the 6.7-inch display on its predecessor. And like the other iPhone 16 models, the display could be brighter than the current phone.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max will also have a bigger battery, according to multiple sources. Leaks have claimed that it will have a 4,676mAh battery, up from the 4,441mAh found in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Like the iPhone 16 Pro, it will also reportedly support 40W charging.
Finally, we have the cameras, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will reportedly get a new “super-telephoto” camera, capable of zooming much further than the 5x of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. That said, this is an old leak, and if it does happen it could be for an iPhone Ultra, so it’s just as possible that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will retain its current 12MP 5x zoom camera.
In both cases, the device will reportedly get a new 48MP ultra-wide camera, just like the iPhone 16 Pro, but will likely keep the same 48MP main camera and 12MP selfie camera as its predecessor.
