iPhone 16 Pro price predictions: Rumors about the two best iPhones

If you’re planning on picking up an iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max when they’re expected to launch later this year, we hope you’ve been saving up, because these phones are likely to be among the most expensive phones of 2024.

No pricing has been announced for the iPhone 16 yet, but based on previous models, leaks, and rumors, it’s safe to say the upcoming Pro models will cost a pretty penny.

We can be even more specific, so below you’ll find our expected prices for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

iPhone 16 Pro price predictions

To start, it’s worth looking at how much the iPhone 15 Pro costs, as that’s likely to be the minimum price Apple will ask for the iPhone 16 Pro.

The iPhone 15 Pro then starts at $999 / £999 / AU$1,849, but you can see the full pricing for each configuration in the table below.

iPhone 15 Pro prices
Storage American price UK price AU price
128GB $999 €999 AU$1,849
256GB $1,099 €1,099 AU$2,049
512GB $1,299 €1,299 AU$2,399
1TB $1,499 €1,499 AU$2,749

Will the iPhone 16 Pro match this? It’s certainly possible, but if there’s one thing it’s that this phone could cost even more than the current model.

After all, leaks suggest that a host of upgrades are coming to the iPhone 16 Pro’s specs. For example, it could feature a larger display, along with a new A18 Pro chipset, and new lenses for the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras.

In fact, we’ve specifically heard that the iPhone 16 Pro’s camera lenses could cost more to make than the iPhone 15 Pro’s, so all of that suggests that the price could go up.

That said, production costs also increased with the iPhone 15 line, but Apple kept prices similar to the iPhone 14 series (with a slight variation depending on your region). So an argument could be made that Apple could repeat that and keep prices the same again — but we’d be more inclined to say that a price increase is overdue.

So there’s virtually no chance that the iPhone 16 Pro will cost less than $999 / £999 / AU$1,849. And while it could start around that price tag, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it cost a little more – perhaps starting at around $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$1,999.

iPhone 16 Pro Max price predictions

The iPhone 16 Pro Max price is largely subject to the same leaks and predictions as the iPhone 16 Pro price, but let’s start with the iPhone 15 Pro Max retail price.

This phone starts at $1,199.99 / £1,199 / AU$2,199, so that could be seen as the likely minimum you’ll pay for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. You can see the full iPhone 15 Pro Max pricing in the chart below.

iPhone 15 Pro Max prices
Storage American price UK price AU price
256GB $1,199.99 €1,199 AU$2,199
512GB $1,399.99 €1,399 AU$2,549
1TB $1,599.99 €1,599 AU$2,899

But just like with the iPhone 16 Pro, we think there’s a good chance the upcoming phone will be more expensive than the current model.

And that’s for the same reasons as the iPhone 16 Pro: rising production costs will likely cause the price to rise from Apple’s perspective. Moreover, the production costs of the iPhone 16 Pro Max could be even higher than those of the iPhone 16 Pro.

Rumor has it that this phone will sport a massive 6.9-inch display, along with the same A18 Pro chipset as its smaller sibling. Rumor has it that it will also come with upgraded cameras, possibly including a new “super-telephoto” snapper, which could be hugely expensive. Either way, much like the iPhone 16 Pro, rumor has it that the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s cameras will feature a new – and pricey – type of lens.

Some leaks have also hinted at an iPhone Ultra, which could be a different handset, but also a different name for the iPhone 16 Pro Max – and whether it launches with Ultra in the name or not, the fact that such a name change is even being whispered suggests this could be a massive upgrade. And with massive upgrades can come massive prices.

That said, we doubt Apple will go overboard with price increases, especially if this continues to carry the Pro Max branding. So our guess is a starting price of around $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,199.

We will soon know the exact price as the iPhone 16 is likely to be released in September.
