An Apple expert revealed that the upcoming iPhone 15 will be a game-changer, with upgrades so important that 250 million iOS users who haven’t upgraded in four years will try to get their hands on one.
Dan Ives, an industry insider at Wedbush Securities, predicts the new smartphone will have more battery power, better camera technology, a new design – all with a price increase from $100 to $200.
He told DailyMail.com it’s only a matter of time before Apple moves aggressively into artificial intelligence — and the iPhone 15 could be the springboard.
The general manager believes that the Health app could have AI capabilities to improve data collection on heart rate, respiration and sleep.
And there may be a separate App Store just for AI-powered apps.

AI powers Apple’s Siri, but the tech giant has yet to add the technology to other aspects of its devices – putting it behind Google, which has added the software to its Pixel cameras.
The software adjusts color balance and exposure to more accurately represent people in photos and increases sharpness in night photos.
Ives is known in the tech industry for his predictions about Apple and Tesla.
He reported in 2021 that the iPhone 12 would be the most popular Apple smartphone since the iPhone 6 – and he was right.
iPhone 12 became the best-selling smartphone all-around and Apple’s most successful series.
And Ives was right about a price increase with the iPhone 14 – he said it would be $100 more.
Now he’s putting a lot of emphasis on AI making its way to the iPhone 15.
Apple’s step into the AI race
Ives told DailyMail.com that AI functionality could make a dramatic rollout in the Health app.
The software is believed to have the power to customize user workouts, meal plans, and track everything from sleep to breathing with better data.
It would do this by tracking your exercise, exercise routine and food intake, which would be used to create a unique plan.
And Apple is also expected to develop AI to track moods by capturing voice and analyzing text messages.
Capturing voice allows the software to tell if you’re feeling happy, sad, stressed and other moods – the same would work with text messages.
We believe it’s a matter of when, not if, Apple makes the aggressive move to AI. [Tim] Cook plays chess while others play checkers,” Ives said.
Cook in Apple’s CEO.
The tech giant is expected to unveil its iPhone 15 in September, as it does every year with new phone models.
The iPhone 14 carries a $799 price tag, but Ives believes the upcoming device will be much more expensive.
Here are all of Ives’ predictions and other iPhone 15 rumors swirling around the web
An improved camera with more megapixels for better photos
The expert also predicted there will be a 20 to 30 percent improvement in the iPhone 15’s camera, meaning better megapixels
A 2022 report found that 90 percent of people who have taken photos have only done so with a smartphone.
This means that camera quality is at the top of the list, and Apple knows that very well.
“We’ve heard there’s a 20 to 30 percent improvement over the iPhone 14,” Ives said.
“This probably includes megapixels and other capabilities around photos that aren’t even conceivable with the iPhone 14.”
The iPhone 15 is expected to have the same dual-sensor camera setup, but could also have the 48MP main sensor included in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max.
These predictions were made by analyst Jeff Pu, who is also a leading Apple expert and reviewed by MacRumors in a research note.
And the iPhone 15 Pro could have the long-rumoured periscope instead.
This periscope camera made progress in 2020 after MacRumors saw another investigative post from renowned Apple product forecaster and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Periscope lenses use mirrors to provide a much greater optical zoom.
New colors may be released
He also told DailyMail.com that he and the Wedbush team have heard that Apple could release one or two more colors. The current rumors also predict new colors
Ives also told DailyMail.com that he and the team at Wedbush have heard that Apple could release one or two more colors.
This is one of the latest rumors circulating the web, which has suggested four new possible shades.
Mockups were shared by 9to5Macreporting on Apple updates and discovering rumors about the new colors in a recent post on Weibo.
The crimson hue is believed to be lighter than the deep purple launched with the iPhone 14, but it’s still “very deep.”
And light green was released with the iPhone 13 range, but the upcoming shade could be darker – closer to a mint color.
The shade of pink is a deeper pink described as ‘telemagent’ and the light blue is ‘picton blue’.
However, the “exclusive” dark red color will only be available for the iPhone 15 Pro and mint green for the flagship and iPhone 15 Plus smartphones.
According to the 9to5Mac source, information on the color options is “still early” and “could change” closer to the fall, so shared colors may vary.
Apple tests multiple colors of new iPhone models before they release, and if Ives is right, only one or two make it off the assembly line.
More power and battery life
Other predictions include the iPhone 15 getting 15 percent more power thanks to what Ives believes is an upgraded M2 chip.
Apple announced the M2 Pro and Max in January, which power its MacBooks and iPads.
But Ives believes the powerful chips will be redesigned for the iPhone 15.
This would provide more CPU and memory and storage for the smartphone.
Ives also predicts a larger battery, which has been an ongoing belief.
An alleged employee of Foxconn, the company that produces a large portion of Apple’s iPhones, told ItHome today that the iPhone 15 family will have larger batteries.
The iPhone 15 gets an 18 percent larger battery, the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro a 14 percent larger battery and the iPhone 15 Pro Max a 12 percent larger battery.
This means that the iPhone 15 can have a capacity of 3877 mAh, iPhone 15 Plus 4912 mAh, iPhone 15 Pro 3650 mAh and iPhone 15 Pro Max 4852 mAh.
“We think there will be more battery power for the iPhone Pro and Max compared to the flagship,” said Ives.
There will be more demand for the iPhone 15 Pro
Apple suffered a crushing defeat with the iPhone 14 Pro, as customers failed to switch to the model, forcing the tech giant to halt production.
‘I think [the iPhone 15] will be a game changer,” said Ives.
“There are 250 million iPhones that haven’t been upgraded in four years.
“We think there will be significant discounts and promotions from carriers that will set this up as a mini super cycle.”
And Ives believes seven to eight upgrades will be the iPhone 15 Pro.
“This will be the toughest Pro mix ever [Apple] ever had and that is a high bar. Given what the Pro mix looked like in 14,” he said.
“You are going to upgrade the Pro. But that’s also why A is for Apple in terms of the iPhone.
“And we think we’re approaching $950, which is almost $100 more than a year ago.”
