Invincible star might have leaked season 4 is on the way

Invincible Season 4 could already be in development at Amazon Studios, if we are to believe Seth Rogen’s comments.
Executive-producing and starring in one of the best Prime Video shows out there, Rogen accidentally appeared to reveal that a fourth season of the R-rated animated series is on the way. Rogen seemingly leaked the news in a chat with Collider (opens in new tab)suggesting that more than two seasons of Invincible are currently being worked on.
“Yeah, I worked on that too,” Rogen said. “I’ve been working on that for the next few seasons” [Invincible], and it’s amazing. She [Amazon] have been very supportive of us doing these crazy things. It’s really great.”
Rogen’s surprise twist comes as fans continue to wait for the arrival of Invincible Season 2. In April 2021, Amazon confirmed that Invincible had been renewed for two more seasons, which came as no big surprise. The wildly popular series became an overnight hit for Prime Video after the relentless and exciting season 1 finale, so the double-season renewal was justified in the eyes of both the creators and the fanbase.
Further updates on Invincible Seasons 2 and 3 have been coming in intermittently over the past 18 months. In March 2022, showrunner Simon Racioppa told TechRadar exclusively that the Invincible crew was “working hard” to complete both seasons as quickly as possible. A month later, voice actor Steven Yeun confirmed that he had returned to the recording booth to put down his vocals for the show’s second season.
Since then, however, it has become more difficult to get news. Khary Payton, who plays Black Sansom in the TV adaptation of Invincible, told… Movie Dweeb’s YouTube Channel (opens in new tab) that he had finished recording lines for season 2 and was in the process of doing so for the follow-up. That was the last we had heard of the development cycle from Invincible to Rogen’s chat with Collider.
We’ve reached out to Amazon for official comment on this and will update this article if we hear anything.
Analysis: Will Invincible Season 4 See the Daylight?
Rogen’s comments don’t officially confirm Invincible Season 4 is a thing. Rogen may have chosen the wrong word to describe the development of seasons 2 and 3, with his use of the word “little” possibly describing the two seasons being worked on.
Still, Rogen could have said “for the next few seasons” instead. By saying “little”, it means the work is progressing on more than two seasons, giving fans – including ourselves – a chance to speculate about the prospect of Invincible returning for a fourth season.
Given how popular Invincible’s TV series is, we’d be shocked if Amazon doesn’t give the green light for more episodes. Sure, a fourth season will depend on whether the audience tunes in for seasons 2 and 3. But based on the viewership the first season drew, it’s more than likely that it will be renewed for more entries, rather than being canceled. (or end) post-season 3.
The show has also only scratched the surface of the beloved comic book series, which was created by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. With the 20th anniversary of Invincible’s comic book franchise arriving in January 2023, let’s hope we finally get an announcement of the Invincible Season 2 release date. Confirmation as to whether a fourth season is in active development wouldn’t be out of place either.
