Invincible season 2 trailer is the perfect birthday gift for Mark Grayson

Finally, almost two years after the end of its predecessor, season 2 of Invincible has a teaser trailer and launch window.

The hugely popular Prime Video show, unveiled by Amazon Studios on Friday, January 20, will return to our screens in late 2023. The announcement comes two days before Invincible’s 20th anniversary, with the graphic novel series originally debuting on January 22, 2003.

To mark the announcement of Invincible Season 2’s release window and to further commemorate the comic book’s anniversary, Amazon also released a first-look, humorous metateaser. Check it out below:

Funnily enough, this isn’t your traditional TV show trailer. The teaser, which sees Mark and Allen the Alien talking in a BM burger joint, spends most of its time mocking the, well, long time it takes for season 2 news to arrive. If hearing from Mark about the animation production pipeline doesn’t elicit a smile (at least), then you’re watching the wrong show.

Invincible Season 2 also seems to have taken on an impressive glow. The animation looks slicker, the colors pop more – overall it seems to have its own unique animation style that should help it stand out further from the crowd. In short: we can’t wait to see how it looks and flows into action.

For some, these announcements will not come as a big surprise.

On January 19, Invincible’s social media team teased that a big reveal was imminent. A first image from Season 2 was revealed on Twitter, showing Mark and Allen eating some food at the same BM burger joint. The tweet that followed also told fans to look out for a huge announcement between 6am PT (that’s 9am ET and 2pm GMT) and, for some bizarre reason, 10:43am PT (1:43pm ET / 6:43 a.m. GMT).

Fortunately, at 9am PT / 2pm ET / 5pm GMT, Amazon Studios revealed the first official details about Season 2 of Invincible. Hopefully it won’t be long before an official release date is announced.

Details about Invincible Season 2 have been a long time coming. In January 2022, Steven Yeun – who voices Mark Grayson / Invincible – revealed that he had not yet started recording voice lines for the next episode of the show. However, that changed in April 2022, when Yeun was finally filmed entering the recording booth.

Yeun only started laying down his work on Season 2 last April, but Invincible’s second season has been in development for over two years. In an exclusive talk to TechRadar in March 2022, showrunner Simon Racioppa said the entire crew was “working hard” on Season 2 and 3. Amazon renewed its hit series for another two seasons in May 2021.

It is not known whether Invincible – one of the best Prime Video shows – will receive more submissions. Given how popular the first appearance was and how excited fans are for the next two seasons, we’d expect Amazon to announce soon if season 4 is in the works. Online rumors spread that Season 4 of Invincible was already in development. However, in November 2022, TechRadar revealed exclusively that Amazon Studios had not secretly renewed Invincible for a fourth season.
