Full spoilers follow for Invincible season 2 part 1.
The official trailer for Invincible Season 2, Part 2 is here, and it promises to deliver a typically violent and epic ending to the latest entry of the hit Amazon superhero show.
The next batch of episodes of the R-rated animated Prime Video series, released online today (February 15), look like they’ll be the most action-packed and heartbreaking yet. Indeed, Invincible Season 2 Part 2 is packed with some of the most important storylines in the literary source material’s namesake, many of which set up major events in future installments of the beloved comics from Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Cory Walker.
So, what’s in store for both longtime fans of the graphic novels and the general public? First, there are the consequences Invincible the brutal finale of season 2 part 1 to contend with – read our Invincible season 2 episode 4 ending explained article for more details. Yes, Mark and Nolan are separated again, and both find themselves in places they would rather not be. Mark is stranded on Thraxa after the hyper-violent battle with some Viltrumites, while Nolan is captured by the tyrannical race after leaving his station on Earth in Invincible season 1.
Unfortunately, things won’t get much easier for Mark once he returns to his home planet. As the trailer reveals, he’ll have to thwart an invasion by the mind-controlling alien race known as the Sequids (we last saw them halfway through Invincible‘s first season), who eventually possesses some of his fellow heroes in the Guardians of the Globe. Oh, and he’ll have to deal with the return of budding nemesis Angstrom Levy, who’s still out for revenge on Mark for his role in turning Angstrom into a maniacal monster. That’s not all. There’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment from Space Racer, a fan favorite from the comics, and a huge Mark Grayson-centric twist – yes, the ominous shot showing him wearing a cape – that creates a big multiversal storyline that will be in season 3 and beyond to come. In short: there is a lot to look forward to.
There are plenty of other plot threads that need to be picked up again in the next episode of the show, and the teaser suggests that we’ll get resolutions to some of them in the near future. Amazon has indeed confirmed a March release date Invincible season 2 part 2 last month, so we’re just a month away from one of the best Prime Video shows returning to our screens in a big way.
As for why Invincible Season 2 was chopped in half prior to its original reveal last year. Co-showrunner Simon Racioppa told Ny Breaking that it was “not the original plan” to split it up, but development logistics deemed it necessary. However, the decision proved to be divisive among some Invincible fans are unhappy at the prospect of having to wait four months between the final episode of Season 2, Part 1, and the series’ return. Still, at least we don’t have to wait much longer.
