The first of Invincible Season 2’s new super-powered characters have been revealed – and their revelations have me giddy for the return of the hit series.
There’s less than a month until Prime Video’s hugely successful R-rated superhero series returns to our screens. And while the clock keeps ticking Invincible Following the highly anticipated debut of Season 2, Amazon Studios has begun releasing the first details about the newest additions to the cast.
Since Monday (October 9), Amazon has revealed five new characters – both heroes and villains – that will play a role in Invincible‘s second season. First came the revelation that Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Lawyer) would portray three people in season 2, including Queen Lizard, whom she previously starred in Invincible Presents: Atom Evea TV special that aired on the main streamer Amazon in July.
But, like I said, Maslany won’t just be reprising her role as the evil Queen Lizard in one of the best Prime Video shows. As revealed by io9Maslany will lend her vocal talents to General Talia, a superhero described as “a decorated general for the Coalition of Planets with a zero-tolerance policy for Viltrumite aggression. She’s keeping her private life private for now.”
The same outlet also confirmed that Maslany would also play Queen Aquaria, who is “the sole monarch of the Atlanteans and their undersea kingdom after her husband, Aquarus, was killed by Omni-Man.” She is a beloved leader who rules with an iron fin. seeks retribution for her husband’s death – through unconventional means.”

One day later, ScreenRant had the honor of unveiling the character played by Jay Pharoah (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) – Bulletproof – for the world. A new addition to the Guardians of the Globe, Bulletproof is a superhero who can fly and is also impervious to damage.
Fans already had an inkling that Bulletproof would stand alongside Invincible and his fellow superheroes after leaked concept art (thanks Reddit before the find) appeared online in July. Still, it’s nice to see the character – real name Zandale Randolph – make an appearance, especially since he played a major role in the comics created by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Cory Walker.

Finally, yesterday (Wednesday, October 11) saw the debut of Shapesmith, the character Ben Schwartz (Sonic the hedgehog) will vote (per Comicbook.com). Shapesmith, another newcomer to the Guardians of the Globe, has the ability to transform into – well, actually that would spoil things. What I can say is that fans may want to go back and watch again Invincible season 1 to try to figure out who (or what) Shapesmith really is.
If you’d rather not spoil the surprise for yourself, here’s a quick character description courtesy of Amazon: “With the shape-shifting powers his name suggests, he bursts into the superhero scene seemingly out of nowhere. Except: why does he eat candy with the wrap?”

These cast reveals aren’t the only ones we’ve learned since the start of 2023. In January, Amazon confirmed that a major Walking dead star was added Invincible the cast of season 2, although it is unclear who he will play. The release of the official teaser of the second season at the end of July – Invincible season 2 is one of Prime Video’s late 2023 shows that will make me cancel my Netflix subscription – also confirmed that Peter Cullen (Transformers) would portray Thaddeus, the only Viltrumite warrior to turn his back on his tyrannical superhuman race.
There has been plenty of other news Invincible season 2 ahead of its November release. Kirkman teased that Invincible season 2 will reveal the ‘terrifying’ impact of Omni-Man’s desertion from Earth, with Amazon exclusively telling TechRadar that Invincible has not been secretly renewed for a fourth season. We hope another installment will be revealed in due course (seasons 2 and 3 were announced simultaneously in April 2021).
Invincible season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Friday, November 3. New episodes will air weekly until the mid-season finale on December 2, with Part 2 of Season 2 releasing in early 2024.
