Intoxicated festival goer is dragged away by security from the Floriade festival in Canberra

Footage has emerged of a festival goer being dragged by his arms and legs by security at a popular event with staff defending the act.

The drunk man was led away by officials during the Floriade event outside the Commonwealth Park grounds in Canberra on Sunday.

In the video, three security guards wearing yellow safety vests can be seen trying to arrest the man lying on the ground.

One security officer holds the man’s left leg, which he briefly lifts off the ground.

Meanwhile, another guard tries to grab the man’s right hand as he struggles with the intoxicated individual who continues to resist the guard’s attempts to subdue him.

Eventually the guard manages to get the man under control before the others start carrying him.

The three guards then begin dragging the man along the ground before taking him behind a barricade covered in red transparent fencing.

Two female security officers who were also wearing a pair of yellow safety vests were then seen leading bystanders who were nearby away from the scene.

Officials took the man to the nearby park security headquarters.

Security staff at the event claimed the man was told to leave the event early, but he refused to do so.

A spokesperson for Events ACT told Daily Mail Australia that the security staff’s actions were necessary because the man did not comply with their commands.

Events ACT claims the man had also previously approached children at the event and asked them if they were with their parents.

“The man refused to comply with the request to leave and physically resisted leaving the site,” the spokesperson said.
