One horse failed to finish the 2022 Melbourne Cup race – with Interpretation getting up early despite being fit enough to start.
Jockey Craig Newitt was heard saying after the race: ‘He’s not right, that horse’.
In a statement Tuesday evening, Racing Victoria said: “RV’s Veterinary Services team has informed Stewards that the results of post-race veterinary examinations have not revealed any significant findings for Melbourne Cup runners at this time.”
Gold Trip – marked by the better as the crowd favorite – made it to the race, followed by Emissary, High Emocean and Deauville Legend.
