Inter Milan set for Chelsea raid by targeting Blues defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Trevor Chalobah

Inter Milan pushed Chelsea attack by targeting Blues defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Trevoh Chalobah, as the Italian side still hope to hang on to Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan have questioned Chelsea fullback Cesar Azpilicueta and defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The Italians have so far offered low fees or loans, which have been turned down by Chelsea, and the club also still has a stake in Romelu Lukaku.

Azpilicueta’s contract expires in 2024 after he signed a new contract with the Blues in 2022 after being linked with a return to Spain.

There were suggestions at the time co-owner Todd Boehly’blocked his move to Barcelona‘ with Chelsea not wanting to lose one of their key leaders and longest-serving stars.

However, with the West London club looking to downsize their squad following their £600 million spend on players last year, the 33-year-old could leave and has reportedly signed a two-year contract with Inter.

Inter are also excited about Trevoh Chalobah, who could move to San Siro along with his team-mate

The Spaniard joined from Marseille in 2012 and made 508 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals, while also captaining the club.

It is believed Chelsea will terminate his contract at Stamford Bridge with one year left, allowing the club legend, who won two league titles and a Champions League, to leave for a new challenge.

While Inter are not the only club interested in bringing in the Spanish star, former boss Tomas Tuchel is also keeping an eye on the situation with a view to bringing Azipilicueta to Bayern Munich.

Azpilicueta could be joined in Milan by defensive team-mate Trevoh Chalobah, who Inter are also targeting.

Inter would like to see Romelu Lukaku stay at the club after his loan spells from Chelsea

The 23-year-old has yet to secure a first-team place in the Blues’ line-up and his future could lie elsewhere.

In addition to the two defenders, Inter still has hopes of Romelu Lukaku, who has been on loan from Chelsea at the Serie A club for the past two seasons.

Lukaku has also been linked with rivals AC Milan, but they have not made a bid for the Belgian striker who earns £325,000 a week.
