Inter Miami will host a special ceremony to hand over the historic Leagues Cup trophy ahead of the next MLS game at home.

The MLS club, co-owned by David Beckham, won its first-ever piece of silverware on Saturday night after an incredible run to the Leagues Cup final inspired by summer signing Lionel Messi.

Miami triumphed over Nashville SC in a dramatic penalty shootout, which ended 10-9 after Drake Callender saved fellow goaltender Elliot Panicco’s spot kick.

To celebrate their momentous title, Inter Miami will present the trophy to its fans ahead of their next league game at home, the club announced on Sunday.

Inter Miami then returns to Fort Lauderdale on August 30, ironically facing Nashville again, this time in the league.

Before then, Messi and co. are back in action on Wednesday as they once again look for silverware in the US Open Cup semifinals at FC Cincinnati.

The team then resumes MLS action – and it’s a chance to make the playoffs – with Messi’s competitive debut in New York against the Red Bulls on Saturday, before finally returning home on August 30.

On Saturday night, Messi scored early in regulation and converted the first shot to penalties as Inter Miami defeated Nashville SC 10-9 on penalties in Saturday night’s Leagues Cup Final.

Messi scored for the 10th time in seven games since joining Inter Miami, converting in the 23rd minute.

The ball landed at Messi’s feet after a pass from teammate Robert Taylor was blocked.

Messi dribbled past Nashville defender Walker Zimmerman and unleashed a bending shot from just outside the box into the top left corner of the goal. Diving goalkeeper Elliot Panicco got the ball without a chance.

Nashville fans had jeered Messi at his earlier touches of the ball, but the stadium erupted in cheers when the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner who led Argentina to the World Cup crown last year scored.

Messi had a shot from a similar position in the 71st minute, but hit the post as the teams played to a 1-1 draw in regulation.

Messi calmly converted the first shot into penalties as Miami claimed its first trophy – and its 44th.
