Inter Miami: Jordi Alba joins Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets as the next Barcelona legend to join the MLS team
Inter Miami have signed another Barcelona legend, with Jordi Alba joining Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets in South Florida.
The news was announced by the club on Thursday afternoon, just over 24 hours before Messi’s highly anticipated debut in the MLS Leagues Cup.
Alba’s wife gave birth to the couple’s third child yesterday, and previous reports claimed this may have been one of the reasons for the delay in the announcement.
Both Messi and Busquets were unveiled by the team in a glitzy ceremony at their DRV-PNK stadium on Sunday night, and now Alba is the next man through the door.
He comes on a free transfer, having terminated his contract with Barcelona by mutual agreement in May – a year before his contract officially expired.

He played alongside Messi and Busquets at Barcelona from 2012 to 2021, when Messi left for new pastures at Paris Saint-Germain.
While at the Nou Camp, Alba won 18 club trophies, as well as the European Championship and Nations League with Spain at international level.
Before his announcement was made official, Alba was included in Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup-roster and was therefore able to make his debut against Cruz Azul on Friday.
