Intel isn’t giving up on desktop graphics cards after Battlemage as rumor claims 3rd gen Celestial GPUs are still coming

Intel’s Celestial desktop graphics cards, the third generation of Arc GPUs, which will follow Battlemage – the next generation that is imminent – are still being planned and worked on for the future.
That’s the latest from the rumor world, courtesy of a well-known leaker on X, Bionic Squash.
As you can see, the leaker says that Intel still has plans for discrete GPUs (DGPUs), i.e. desktop graphics cards, after the desktop models for Battlemage are launched.
If current rumors are true, Battlemage graphics cards could arrive in December, with the model being the B580 – possibly the highest-end GPU – recently leaked.
Analysis: Some mixed messages from the rumor mill
You might be wondering: why should there be any concern about Celestial at all? Well, in the recent past there have been some suggestions that Intel might not have a new generation of GPUs after Battlemage, or at least not desktop models – and that Celestial might just be for integrated graphics.
Bionic Squash seems pretty confident that this is not the case, and recent hints seem to support this. Intel is certainly already working on Celestial and could even have radical plans for more powerful desktop GPUs in the third generation, based on a recently discovered patent.
That said, Celestial desktop version GPUs have yet to see any leaks – it’s too early for that at this point – and other recent talk has suggested that Intel may be waiting to see how successful Battlemage is before committing fully commitment to discreet heavenly products. Take that rumor from the past, as well as this new one, with caution, however.
It’s very likely that in reality Intel still has decisions to make on this front, but if Bionic Squash is right, the plan for now is to release a third generation of Arc desktop GPUs.
