- Mikhail Makarov, 72, tackled the robber after stealing an 11-year-old boy’s phone
A thug was given ongoing karma after robbing a child and stealing his mobile phone when he was knocked to the ground by a pensioner.
Mikhail Makarov, 72, instinctively tackled the robber after he was seen on CCTV holding victim Timofey, 11, down and grabbing his smartphone before running into the street.
Timofey screamed hysterically as soon as the 35-year-old robber picked up his phone and alerted the former security guard who was repairing his car’s engine on the side of the street in Schelkovo, near Moscow, when the incident unfolded.
Makarov said that when he looked up, he saw the robber sprinting towards him and the boy chasing him.
Video shows the pensioner running towards the robber before knocking him to the ground. The thief was thrown into the air and landed on his back with a sickening thud.

The pensioner said that when he “heard a hysterical scream” he looked up and saw the distraught boy.
Makarov said, “There is a school nearby and there are often loud noises. I looked and this man is running away from the boy.

Makarov said that as he pinned the robber to the ground, he asked Timofey, “What did he do?” The boy replied, “He stole my phone.”
He believed that active retirees should do more to keep order on the streets.
Police later arrested the man and said he had a previous criminal record.
They praised Makarov for “not remaining indifferent” and “helping the police detain the suspect.”
