Instant karma for idiotic driver who tried to overtake a bus while driving on the wrong side of the road

  • Attempted overtaking at an intersection

Dash cam footage captured the wild moment when an idiotic driver crashed straight into a bus while driving on the wrong side of the road in Perth.

A 17-year-old Holden Commodore driver was caught speeding at the junction of Towncentre Drive and Sugarwood Drive in Thornlie, before crashing into the TransPerth bus.

Footage from the incident showed the bus turning right before the Commodore driver crashed directly into the side of the vehicle.

The car was dragged more than two meters and narrowly avoided a house on the corner of the intersection.

The entire incident was captured on a dashcam.

“I thought, ‘What an idiot,'” Eddie Walker, who made the video, told PerthNow.

“Never try to overtake a bus and never overtake while a bus is making a turn.”

Although the front of the Commodore was badly damaged, there were no major injuries from the crash.

“The passenger in the Commodore suffered only minor cuts to his elbow and was shaken,” Mr Walker said.

“The driver was shaken and the bus driver got a small bump on his head.”

WA police confirmed that the 17-year-old had been charged with offenses related to the incident.

“Several passengers were on the bus at the time and St John Ambulance WA attended and treated several people with minor injuries,” a police statement read.

“The 17-year-old girl from Byford has been charged with dangerous driving and will appear in court at a later date.”
