Instagram plans to lay off London staff just months after parent Meta moved executives to the capital
Instagram is set to lay off 250 employees in London, just months after parent company Meta relocated executives to the capital.
The Covent Garden office is expected to close as Mark Zuckerberg’s company continues to lay off thousands of workers. It opened in 2013 as a European hub for the company.
It came amid reports that Meta is planning to cut more than 10 per cent of its UK workforce – at least 687 of about 5,000 employees.

Other positions are also at risk of being laid off, according to the Financial Times.
Instagram boss Adam Mosseri moved to London last year to boost growth in the face of competition from TikTok, but he is reportedly now moving back to the US along with other staff who have dodged job cuts.
Meta, which owns Facebook and WhatsApp, said last month it would cut 10,000 jobs. It adds to 11,000 axed in October.
