Instagram official? Dr Matt Agnew has a ‘date night’ with celebrity chef Khanh Ong after denying romance rumours

Dr. Matt Agnew and his best friend Khanh Ong continued to fuel romance rumors on Wednesday night when they went out for a self-proclaimed ‘date night’.

The former Bachelor contestant, 36, and MasterChef Australia star, 30, have been hit with speculation about their friendship time and time again, but have denied they are dating.

And the close friends seemingly joked about the romance rumors this week as they headed out together for a ‘date night’ and shared snaps from the evening on Instagram.

Khanh snapped a close-up selfie of the two of them as they flashed big smiles as they enjoyed a night out at a glitzy Prada event.

Celebrity chef Khahn wore a sumptuous Prada T-shirt for the occasion, while Matt looked equally suave in a navy blue shirt and black blazer.

Khahn simply captioned the photo: “Date night,” as he appeared to reference the pair who have often been hit with dating rumors about their close friendship.

Matt and his good friend Khanh were last seen in September when they attended the Australian Ballet’s Oscar world premiere in Melbourne.

The friends posed together on the red carpet, beaming for photos as they continued to show off their close friendship.

They were also seen enjoying a holiday together in Noosa last October, cuddling as they strolled around the Queensland seaside resort.

The friends were joined by SAS star Mark Wales and his wife Samantha Gash as they spent a fun afternoon on the beach.

Matt and Khanh have become extremely close in recent years, regularly sharing “date nights” and cuddles.

However, they denied there was anything ‘sexual’ in their bond, speaking on the Feast podcast last year when discussing the rumours.

“It’s the lack of affection that straight men show other men that makes people assume there must be something sexual,” Matt said.

‘Everyone should feel comfortable enough in their sexuality that they don’t feel uncomfortable showing affection, men or women.

“There’s an arbitrary line in the sand – no, boys can’t show affection – which is stupid.”

Matt said the pair enjoy sharing a platonic hug as they are both single and need company.

‘People are very social beings. Hugs and hugs, which release dopamine and make you feel good,” he said.

‘Cuddles are important for everyone, women and men. That physical comfort and being able to feel safe. It’s something inherently human.’

Matt added that they will call each other and say “let’s have a movie night, have a cuddle” and that “it will make you feel better.”

Khanh, who is openly gay, explained how they have been friends for years and provide each other with companionship.

“The rumors are hilarious because he [Matt] is the most heterosexual cis-gendered man and I am clearly gay. We are friends and hang out,” he told Ny Breaking Australia in recent years.

“We offer each other something that I think we’re both missing and that’s just camaraderie.

“We have dinners, we talk about our careers and what we want to do next, and it’s just a sounding board where there’s no judgment and I think that’s a very healthy relationship.

“I think the funniest thing is that I could do this with a friend and no one could expect me to go out with them.”

Matt appeared in the 2019 series of Channel 10 dating show The Bachelor, riding off into the sunset with Chelsie McLeod.

However, the romance fizzled out after three months and he later confirmed he was dating comedian Gen Fricker, before revealing he was single.
