An Instagram model has claimed that she is more confident than ever since growing a thick unibrow.

Kenah Jonel has thrown off trolls who called her a “caveman.”

The 21-year-old, from Austin, Texas, has always sported bushy eyebrows, but they were plucked from the age of 10 until she decided to grow them out when she turned 16.

Kenah is always showered with compliments on her bold brows, with admirers telling her they are “perfect”, “incredible” and that she is her best feature.

But ever since the social media influencer started using TikTok, they’ve been the target of snide comments, mostly from men, calling her a “monkey” and “caveman” and calling her unibrow a “caterpillar.”

Despite this, the fashion lover claims she feels most confident with her unibrow and friendly users have commented that she inspired them to “be themselves” and ditch the tweezers too.

The model has hit back at haters on TikTok who send abusive messages about her unibrow. Some people have called her 'caveman', 'caterpillar' and 'monkey'

Kenah likes to encourage others not to feel like they have to live up to the status quo or societal beauty standards and to be someone you’re “proud of, happy with and find beautiful.”

Kenah said, ‘I love my unibrow. I definitely feel most confident with a unibrow and think I wouldn’t feel comfortable looking at my face when I trim or tweeze it.

‘I also say to myself, if I wouldn’t take them’ [troll’s] real life advice, why let them tell me what to do on the internet?

“I think giving people the power to decide how I want to look, dress and present myself in everyday life won’t bring me results that make me happy.”

Kenah’s mom started tweezing her eyebrows when she was about 10, but this stopped when she was about 16.

Kenah explains, “I’ve always had bushy eyebrows. But growing up, I specifically remember having really hairy eyebrows and a unibrow.

“So my mother always picked them.

“Since I got older, she really didn’t have to do that anymore. I thought I liked them and I didn’t feel like I had to pick them just because everyone else did.”

The Instagram model didn’t start with the intention of growing a unibrow, it was more that she liked her eyebrows and let them grow the way they wanted.

“All my life I’ve been told that I have incredible eyebrows, that they are perfect and that everyone loves them.

“I think they’ve always been my most notable feature – especially when I was 16 when I went platinum blonde and that’s why they stood out a lot.

“Of course most people tended to compliment my eyebrows on something else, because it’s a very daring trait.”

The TikToker only posted one or two videos specifically about her unibrow, but received daily comments about it for about a year.

Kenah said, “I’ve had people DMs specifically like ‘I love how confident you are and how you show your eyebrows, it’s really encouraged me to be myself and have my eyebrows the way they are.'”

The model said comments like this mean a lot to her and she is thrilled that her fans are happy with her confident content.

She explained that she feels like she’s doing something right by just being herself and encouraging others to get out of the box and do their own thing.

But Kenah, who was a model for 10 years and still models occasionally, has gotten a mixed reaction about her unibrow online because she also receives negative comments.

Kenah admits that many people have said terrible things to her about her eyebrows, and many have called her “caterpillar”

Kenah said, “I’ve also had a lot of people say really awful things, to the point where I sometimes wondered how deeply rooted that hatred is in terms of the projection associated with my unibrow.

‘On the internet it is often referred to as a ‘caterpillar’.

“I’ve had guys send me DMs that are basically like ‘you’re a monkey’, ‘you should kill yourself’, ‘you look like a neolithic caveman’.

“Someone sent me a video of someone cutting their wrists once and telling me to shave, which I thought was pretty extreme.

Despite her unibrow being called a “caterpillar” on the internet, Kenah regularly posts videos showing her in all her glory, and has amassed over two million likes.

“There are some comments that just make me sad and not because of my eyebrows, but it’s clearly a reflection of misogyny and that’s disturbing to me, other than that, it is what it is.

‘Most negative comments come from men.

“I also get quite a few negative comments from women, but anyone who has ever taken the time to DM a really despicable, horrible post, it’s almost always a guy or an account that you don’t really see anyone behind. ‘

She said, ‘I think what’s hard about talking to those people? [trolls] direct is that i can recognize that they are projecting because they are unhappy, but i don’t necessarily think they can recognize that – that’s why they are trolling on the internet.

“Something I wish they would do is self-reflect and maybe wonder why it makes them feel better about being an anonymous person and taking down other people on the internet.

“But there’s nothing I can do or say to make them understand that, so I think for me the only response I can have is to be myself and that’s it.

“Ultimately, you should be someone you’re proud of, happy with and find beautiful, and not necessarily beautiful in a way that reflects society’s beauty standards or the way other people see you.

“But true happiness and self-love come from being someone, no matter who everyone expects of you.

“And I know it’s really hard to do, but that’s the key to really loving yourself beyond what everyone else is pushing you to do.”
