Instagram is experiencing outages worldwide, leaving thousands of users unable to access the app or log in to their accounts.

DownDetector, a site that monitors online outages, reported problems around 2:00 PM ET.

An outage map shows that users in the US, Great Britain, parts of Europe and Australia are experiencing problems.

It is not known what causes the malfunction and Meta has not acknowledged the malfunction.

Reports of DownDetector issues show that 62 percent of issues stem from the app, 28 percent refer to the server connection, and 10 percent of users say they can’t log in.

In the US, users in New York City, Los Angeles and Atlanta, Georgia have reported issues.

Across the Atlantic, users from Norwich, Cambridge and London have also notified DownDector about the outage.

More than 1,500 Americans have submitted reports to DownDetector.

When one social media platform goes down, users tend to look for answers on another platform – and that’s usually Musk’s X.
