I thought this was a good analogy – when it rains you find shelter, and it’s the same with social media platforms.

When one goes down, move to the other to see if anyone else got caught in the storm.

Our Editor-in-Chief for Lifestyle, Josie Watson (opens in new tab) mentioned an interesting point of this limbo where no one knows what is going on and if the problem is currently being resolved.

Mainly due to the fact that customer service from Meta, Twitter and others in social media is almost non-existent, so where do influencers and companies go to find a solution for this compared to the regular user?

Currently there is none, it’s a wait and see attitude, and that can be terrifying for many who want to communicate with their fans but can’t access their accounts.

An interesting catch from Matt Navarra on Twitter (opens in new tab) – Instagram released an update for “bug fixes” earlier today. Could this be related to what some users are currently experiencing?

This was posted by the communications team on Instagram in the UK, where it states it is “related to a technical issue” in the app, and it is under investigation.

We’re still waiting for an update, but you get the sense that it’s currently battle stations at Meta, trying to find a fix for this.

This was how the problem was discovered – countless users realized their follower count was dwindling very quickly, and eventually others would share on Twitter how their account would be suspended for no reason.

Although there is no word from the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseric (opens in new tab) but we are waiting for a message from the company as to when the issue will be resolved.

This is an example from @QueenVIP8 of how her Instagram account was suddenly blocked for no reason.

Again, if you only open Instagram once a day to look at dog photos and wonder why you’ve been locked out, don’t panic — it’s a bug and Instagram is aware.

After the news earlier today that Twitter CEO Elon Musk wants to charge money for the blue tick, and with Instagram down, may we soon see a hat-trick from another troubled social platform?

Snapchat stops snapping?

Facebook will cease to face?

MySpace stops using space? Again?

Rejoice – it looks like Instagram is now investigating the issue. Best thing to do is grab a drink, and hopefully this will all be over by the time you get back.

If you received this message, you are not alone, but Instagram seems to be aware of the problem.
