Inside TikTok’s favourite Sydney ‘horror mansion’ as it hits the market for $10million

A once-grand stone mansion on Sydney’s North Shore, made famous by TikTokers as a ‘haunted house’, has hit the market for a whopping $10 million.

The 80-year-old waterfront property, located in Mosman, is in an advanced state of disrepair after being abandoned more than two decades ago.

Now Grade II listed, it was originally built as a two-storey, five-bedroom, three-bathroom house surrounded by beautiful gardens with direct access to the harbour.

However, The Daily Telegraph reports that a development application has been approved for the site, sending potential buyers into a frenzy.

The house was last sold in 2015 for $6.6 million to Edward Wei, a Chinese national and architecture student who filed the new DA for the site.

According to the report, the DA received 97 inquiries from buyers in 24 hours.

The plans are in keeping with the original house and make it possible to build a four-storey house on the foundations of the original mansion from 1939.

Features outlined in the proposal include plans for a four-bedroom home with an interior elevator.

Highlights include a top-floor terrace, which offers owners stunning views of Sydney’s famous harbour.

Meanwhile, the public prosecutor is also calling for an entire level to be designated as ‘main living space’.

A lower level, meanwhile, will serve as an ‘entertainment deck’, with a gym, rumpus room, a billiards room and an adjacent swimming pool with terrace.

What was once described as a ‘grand masterpiece’, what remains of the original mansion, called Morella, is now covered in graffiti with broken windows, scattered rubble and a crumbling interior.

Mr. Parer is now dead.

The former prized house was built by his wealthy parents Leonardo and Helena Parer, who lived there with Antony, and their two daughters Marianna and Sarita.

‘Morella’ subsequently graced the pages of the April issue of Australian Home Beautiful magazine in a six-page spread.

After word got out that the mansion was abandoned, social media users began making videos of the site, including the Drive Locations AU TikTok, who had more than 90,000 followers.
