The average price of a house in Britain has risen amid better-than-expected economic prospects.
Values are up 0.8 percent over the past month, from £285,660 in February to £287,880 in March, according to Halifax.
It follows figures released by Nationwide last week, which showed prices fell year-over-year in March at their sharpest pace in 14 years. It said a typical home was worth £257,122, down 4.6 per cent from its peak in August 2022.

North London estate agent Jeremy Leaf said the latest positive house price data confirmed what’s seen on the ground.
“It confirms what we are seeing in practice: falling mortgage rates and expectations that the worst for the economy may be behind us have lured buyers and sellers out of hibernation,” he said.
