Inside the surprising meals Elon and Mark Zuckerberg could eat to prepare for their cage fight

This week, two of the world’s richest tech moguls, Elon Musk And Mark Zuckerbergseemed to agree to a cage fight.

Musk tweeted Wednesday night, boasting that he’s “up for a cage match when he is.” Meta boss Zuckerberg responded on Instagram: “Send me the location.”

Bookies already have Zuckerberg – who recently won a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition and trains in mixed martial arts – as the clear favorite if the fight goes on.

But how they fuel up before the fight can be crucial in determining who wins.

Zuckerberg, 39, is known for being strict about his eating and exercise habits, eating only meat from animals he killed himself and participating in grueling exercise challenges.

Meanwhile, Musk, 51, has said he doesn’t like working out and eats a donut every day along with several cans of soda.

Here, DailyMail.com compares the two tech titans in a quintessential tape story

In 2011, Zuckerberg decided to only eat meat if it came from an animal he killed.

“I think a lot of people forget that a living thing has to die in order to eat meat, so my goal is not to let myself forget that and to be thankful for what I have,” says Zuckerberg. Fortune at the time.

“This year I actually became a vegetarian, since the only meat I eat is from animals I killed myself. So far this is a good experience.

‘I eat much healthier and have learned a lot about sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry.’

Zuckerberg has owned several animals, including at least six goats. In 2021, he doubled the size of his Hawaii estate with the goal of using it for farming.

It’s safe to assume that Zuckerberg’s diet could include organic chicken, fish, shellfish, beef, and even more exotic foods.

In an interview with Rolling stoneformer Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said Zuckerberg invited him over for dinner one night and gave him cold meat from a goat he killed earlier.

‘I think he kills it. He kills it with a laser gun and then with the knife. Then they send it to the butcher,’ Dorsey said.

‘[Zuckerberg] then had six goats. I go, “are we eating the goat you killed?” He said “Yes,” I said, “Have you eaten goat before?” He’s like, “Yeah, I love it.”‘

It’s unclear if Zuckerberg still slaughters his own animals, but he’s also admitted that he often forgets to eat.

“Do you ever get so excited about what you’re working on that you forget to eat?” he wrote on Facebook. ‘Keeps happening. I think I’ve lost 10 kilos in recent months because of this.’

Musk has also said he often prioritizes work over food. “If there was a way I couldn’t eat so I could work more, I wouldn’t eat,” Musk said in Ashlee Vance’s biography Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.

However, he is less strict than Zuckerberg. In the past, he’s said he’d skip breakfast or eat something sweet like a Mars bar or donut. “I’m trying to cut back on sweet things, and I should have an omelette and coffee,” he said, according to a 2017 Entrepreneur article.

A Mars bar contains 234 calories and 11.5 grams of fat. It also contains 26 grams of sugar, almost three quarters of the recommended daily sugar intake for men American Heart Association says is 36 grams.

He seems to have made little progress in that regard.

“I eat a donut every morning. Still alive,’ he tweeted in March.

The average glazed donut contains about 253 calories and 14 grams of fat.

Also on Musk's bedside table was a half-empty water bottle, four decaffeinated Diet Coke cans, and not one, but two replica pistols

It also has about 14 grams of sugar, or six and a half teaspoons.

Last year, Musk tweeted a photo of his bedside table showing four empty cans of decaffeinated Diet Coke. However, the drink contains no calories or added sugars.

He told Joe Rogan on the 2020 episode of his podcast, “I’d rather eat good food and live a shorter life.”

Despite his relaxed diet, Musk admitted last year that he used Wegovy, his secret to getting a “fit, ripped and healthy” body, along with fasting to lose weight.

Wegovy is the sister drug of Ozempic, a brand name for the drug
semaglutide. Wegovy and Ozempic work to suppress appetite and cause weight loss.

As of 2023, doctors have dispensed more than 832,700 prescriptions for Wegovy.

Mr. Musk has not consistently said whether the medication he was taking was Wegovy or Ozempic brand, but both drugs can cause significant weight loss and a reduction in body fat.

He said in October that he lost nearly 30 pounds with the help of the medication, in combination with fasting and “unpleasant eating.”

With a height of 170 centimeters and about 70 kilograms, Zuckerberg is the smaller and more agile of the two businessmen.

But when it comes to fitness, Zuckerberg has been praised for his high-intensity workout regimens.

Earlier this month, he completed the grueling “Murph Challenge” workout, which included 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and a mile run. Not only did he finish, but he also placed in the top 200 out of tens of thousands of participants.

The challenge is named after Michael P. Murphy, a US Navy SEAL who was killed while touring Afghanistan in 2005 and regularly took on the brutal training.

Zuckerberg shared a photo on Facebook of himself wearing a camo vest and another of his two daughters — Aug. 7 and Max, 5 — taking on a mini version of the challenge.

“I try to do the Murph challenge with the girls every Memorial Day as a tradition to honor those who have defended us,” he wrote.

He also won both gold and silver medals in his first-ever Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament in May.

However, Musk has said that he has trained in Kyokushin karate, taekwondo, judo and jiu-jitsu all his life. He also told CNBC that he spends some time on the treadmill and lifting weights.

However, he is not a fan of exercise. “Honestly, I wouldn’t exercise at all if I could. I prefer not to exercise,” he said in an interview with Rogan.

“I have a great move I call ‘The Walrus’ where I just lie on top of my opponent and do nothing,” Musk tweeted on Wednesday.
