A Lincolnshire chippy has been hit with a four-figure fine for failing to meet ‘basic hygiene standards’ and being deemed a ‘health risk’.
Hygiene inspectors came across a grim scene when they looked around Pisces’ fish and chip shop in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Boston Borough Council Environmental Health Officers found dirty work surfaces, walls and equipment, moldy food and chicken and kebab meat stored at unsafe temperatures.
Some refrigerators did not work at all three times between July and October 2022
The photos also show that flies were found on food and work surfaces.

Yasin Nabi, who ran the chippy on Fenside Road until March this year, admitted failing to meet ‘basic standards of cleanliness and hygiene’ over a number of months in 2022.
He pleaded guilty to several food hygiene offenses at Boston Magistrates’ Court, including breaching the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 Act.
The former owner has been banned from running a food business and now faces a whopping four-figure fine of £2,972.
Councilor Callum Butler, Portfolio Holder for Environment said: “The public has the right to expect safe food, and we as a City Council are working hard to protect the health and wellbeing of Bostonians.
“This case reinforces the message that we will not hesitate to prosecute food companies that show disregard for the safety of their customers. Food safety standards exist for a reason.
“The ban order should serve as a warning to other food businesses that we will use all tools at our disposal to protect our residents.”
